My first vertical setup! Pic inside.

Ive been growing flat and finally made the switch after I saw some of your grows..
I know a hydro sog, or multiple shelves for dirt sog is optimal, but right now I have 13 clones that are on their 3rd or 4th week of flower.. they are 6.5wk strains..
I just have them around the lights at the bottom of the tent.. no shelves built yet.. not building them for a lil while..

So, my question is.. the clones are right at the side of the bottom light, but the top light is much higher.. is this not good for the plants since they are so small??
just seems like if both 600s were horizontal all light would be on the clones.. right now most of the light is hitting the sides of the tent and seems like a waste right now..thoughts?

Ive got 7 purple wreck and 4 la confidential in veg under a 8 bulb 2' t5, flat grow.. the la con are really bushy and short and the pw is starting to get taller.. normally i lst and top to get an even canopy for my horizontal lights, but now the two 600s are vertical so it seems like i dont need to try and get an even canopy?
should i do any training?
these plants will not be on shelves either.. so im guessing the taller the better? and then i could prop up the small plants?

thoughts? any advice would be greatly appreciate.. just kinda confused as how to take advantage of the vertical lights without using shelves right now.. im guessing the plants need to be tall..

thanks!

edit: forgot to say, this is a 4.6x4.6x6.6 tent with two digital 600hps in cooltubes in the center.. the plan is to eventually build 4 units, one for each side of the tent.. 6' tall and 4' long.. the one infront of the door will have wheels so i can wheel out.. each unit will have 3 shelves and ill put 3 plants on each shelf for a total of 36 2gal plants.. probably just rooted clones, not vegd..

Looking good bro!
Looks like you took your time and home work. At the advice of someone who knows about vertical, it was suggested that I use a screen hanging about 8" off the wall. I was told to train the plants to grow between the wall and the screen.
That's how I'm setting mine up now.

Good luck,

B

Nice setup, makes me want to re-think mine. I'm anxious to see how the grwo goes. From looking at your picture:
--How is the vertical tube supported? Will it sway around with that oscillating fan on? Just a thought.
Would not want to see that nice peice of equipement fall over.

Looking good

I like how you have it setup!

I will pm you once I get my cab built as well relentless.

I was going to run 8 5 gallon pots around the tubes myself and let them veg to 2.5+ feet to allow for much larger girls to grow to the top.

How many are you thinking of running, were you thinking of doing single level or shelves with multi plants per section?

A sativa dom would THRIVE in there growing from the bottom up and enjoying a ton of head room.

I like how you ran the ducting as well and is giving my some ideas as well.

thanks guys! im going to try and find something where I can prop the plants up more.. currently im using old school books. . i knew they were good for something

its actually really stable on its own, but just for safe measure i tied the tubes to the ceiling.. they arent going anywhere

NIce set up .... to answer your question your lights are too low in the pic .... the top one should be just below the top of the cab, thereby encouraging the plants to grow upwards

As you already mentioned you've put plants that are about 1/2 way through flowering, by which time most vertical growth has stopped ...... when you put your next batch in they will shoot up and fill the cab

In a similar set up I have a screen 16" diameter around the lamps and this creates a great way to weave the buds in and end up with a 'hedge' of plants by the time they finish

Good Luck now you've gone vertical, a bit of tweaking and you'll soon have some big plants

thanks man.
i dont think i should raise the lights, because they are too tall as it is.. the clones were instantly put into flowering so they are short..

the next crop that goes in will be taller, so im sure I will need to raise the lights then..

I really dont want to mess with a screen.. id like to do the next crop(la con and purp wreck) vertical and then from there on out prob just do 30 or so clones.. no veg.. just vertical sog using 3 shelves on each wall..

for my shelves.. i plan to have 4 units, one for each side.. each unit should have 3 shelves, i guess..
the shelves are going to be 4' long and 6' tall...

at what height should each shelf be?

thanks
