I just finished building a new flowering room that measures 4' x 4'x 7'-6".
I'm using a 600W cool tube that's pulling air from below the house exhausting through a new 8" roof outlet I just installed.

The room is sealed with fresh C02 being blown in every 2 hours. temps stay about 80 when the lights are on and 75 when off.

I have everything it takes to go hydro (drippers, lines, sprayers, water pumps, air pumps and air stones) and I have everything it takes to run organic dirt.

Obviously hydro is going to take a lot more work, I'm just wondering if the majority of you guys are using dirt and if so, is it because of watering?

Keep in mind that I'm a med user and for legal reasons I need to stay within the 6 plant maximum allowed.

Hey Mr-B, I just recently tried Hempy buckets and they are so simple. It's a passive hydro system, no pumps, drippers, timers, hoses, etc... There is a huge Hempy bucket thread on here somewhere if your are not familiar with it, there is much bickering on it, so I'll save you the trouble.

Its basically a bucket (or the like) with one drain hole on the side as big as your thumb placed about 1.5" - 2" from the bottom of the bucket.

For medium, the recipe calls for 1:3 vermiculite:perlite. I use all perlite for simplicity and it was suggested by an experienced grower that says it gets the best yields.

Nutes, hydroponic nutes obviously, mix accordingly and pour until you see overflow coming out of the drain hole, every other day.

Thats it.

My plants are very happy, they love it. I've got 6 plants in one square trough (x2) and I love it, its super simple.

As far as your lights go, with that much height, you could fit 2 600s in there. Depending on how long you want to veg will determine how many shelves you need. If you go Hempy, you could hang troughs on the wall and hook up a hose to the drain hole leading into one bucket from every trough. Drain hole on one side of the trough and water from the other side.

hey mr. b, let me see if i can help you!

6 plants is no problem to get some decent weight. they will need to be vegged to around 3'-3 1/2' before flipping. that way you can manipulate and bend the branches to take up every inch available for growing, wall of weed!

with a 4 by 4 by 8, it may pose problems with using a 600 vertical, with the plants being very close to the plants, the 600 kicks off some heat, even with a cooltube. and using a fan in a small space like that is tricky to not get wind burn.

imo, i would not go sealed unless i had co2 at all times and not every 2 hours. plants use c02 quickly, especially in a small room like that.

if i had a setup like yours, i would use potting soil, because its easy to use. elevate the plants 6" off the ground for runoff with whatever. then i would get horti trellis and create walls on all 4 sides of the room about 8" from the walls. your plants will grow between the walls of your room and the horti trellis in that 8" of space. train all the branches and tops to fill every available inch of space. does that make sense?

I bought some screen to manipulate the branches as they grow. I will post up some pics of the grow room and plants next week when I go 12/12.

The controller is set c02 for 1200, I also set the controller to exchange the air completely every 2 hours figuring the o2 needed to be replaced as well.
Crunchbubble: do you think I should set the controller to exchange the air @ quicker intervals? I don't have an o2 monitor.

ya, personally i think it should be exchanged more often. co2 most likely will not stay in there for 2 hours. if it were me, every 1/2 hour.

you can pick up good, brand new co2 monitor on ebay for $350. same one as cap, but a different company. i have one and it works perfectly.

I posted a question in a co2 thread in the grow room section, I asked about exchanging the air with fresh air every so often and multiple people said it wasn't necessary.
I spent a couple hours read Georges growers bible last night, George states in several different paragraphs that even sealed grow rooms need the air exchanged with fresh air every couple hours.

Using the info I got here, I decided what to do with the new room. I expect good results.

I took this last night prior to installing the new filter

Krunchbubble: I have a bad habit of calling things the incorrect name.
My Co2 monitor is a Sentinel CCH-1. It controls everything not just the Co2.

I changed the setting last night to turn the Co2 off and turn the vent on for 5 minutes. After the vent is off the room is filled back up with fresh Co2.
