I am somewhat of a SOL fanatic myself and in my opinion these strains represent some of the finest & most unique cannabis genes in the world. Knowing Steve I would guess he had a pretty serious stash of beans for a rainy day. (I hope)

I for one would pay whatever it costs for many of these old heritage SOL strains, just to have em' for a rainy day myself.

Funny thing is ALOT of strains parading around today as something special are based off older SOL strains without giving due credit.

I think f2's would be a travesty. If ya gonna do it do it right. Steve built this company on quality. So much variation in F2's, it just wouldn't be fair to the name Spice of Life. Peace GS

I think many of the strains would be great as F2's and would give even greater range of selection for mothers and breeders, like going back in time to their parents in some cases. Many of which have been lost forever.

However the Sweet Tooth for example is a pretty true breeding line in my experience when crossed to itself and are nearly identical to the originals from the pack in my opinion. Either way there are always going to be different phenos in almost any strain, that makes it fun. That's the way you find something really special that has never been seen or had before.

There is always selfing for female seeds too I guess. But that's not nearly as fun.

Iam not sure which route to take with some of the SOLS seeds i have. I will leave it to Steve to lay out some options when we meet up.

Peace

Sweet Tooth would indeed be a nice thing to do some inbreeding with.
Out of 4 females from the "inspected from bulk" seconds only 1 had a bland aroma while the rest were winners with aromas ranging from berries to citrus mixed with some rotten fruit/skunk.
Every single one of them nice yielders with perfect bag-appeal, nice potency and fast finish.

So if that's what you get in the F2 generation then I bet just one or 2 generations of inbreeding would give stellar results.

A large open pollination run to preserve more genetic variation might even be better... since most are winners as it is.

Well if a strain like Sweet Tooth #3 or #4 is crossed to itself..say a male and female from an original pack then would that be the F2 generation or ?

Are they (the #3 and #4) F1 Hybrids to begin with (two seperate distinct varieties first cross) or an inbred line? Or further crosses back to the original mother or father?

I have read conflicting stories and descriptions just about everywhere and I guess the answer is different for each different version.

From what I can recall there was the first Original Sweet Tooth, then #2,#3,#4 - and supposedly some improvements made in each next generation. The #4 being the final "real" Sweet Tooth from Breeder Steve when he was in Switzerland.

Anyone (Breeder Steve maybe????) that can clarify this and their make-up or status breeding wise for the #3, #4 generation numbers would be extremely helpful.

ps - very interested in whether these self crossed from the same pack sweet tooth #4's I have should be called F2's. The seeds are literally identical to the originals as well as the plants they grow. I also have some originals in original packs. I really do not want this strain to be unavailable to the world since it is just far too groovy and the buzz is very postive vibes, I call it a hippy high. I think I would choose it over just about anything.

My real swt was #3 really found a good pheno with a perfect blend of bluebery and grapfruit.

I think these may be steve's descrip of #3...not sure of 4.
"Sweet Tooth #3 (fourth generation, 3rd Backcross to Sweet Pink Grapefruit mother). This Sweet Tooth is the result of one backcross line wherein the goal in searching the father was an emphasis on the taxonomy and aroma of the original SPG mother. The Grapefruit is a true favourite among growers and consumers. It is possibly the most cultivated strain among commercial producers in Vancouver. The preceding BX2 seed that the father was selected from produced quite homogenous grapefruit-like plants, this generation should be suitable for crossing. The plant is high yielding for a Sweet Tooth yet retains the exceptional candied sweetness this strain is famous for. A beautiful plant with a beautiful taste and a positive vibration. A smiling high is guaranteed from these heady flowers. The plants are quite hardy and easy to grow, and prefer a drier finishing time, as the buds become fat enough for mold to be of concern. These chunky monkeys often require staking but in a windy location they should be stout enough to hold their own (significant) weight. Does well as a small bush but will become a large bush given adequate growth parameters. Whether this is an exceptional commercial strain or head stash is for you to decide. I truly hope you enjoy these plants as much as I do. Indoors Flowering: 8wks Outdoors: mid.Oct.& Indoors Yield: Way Above Average (easily 500gms per metre) Outdoors: Above Average"

Sounds good, but I have read that a gazillion times just wanted to find out a bit more from the man himself or maybe kootenay can expand on what made the #4 different from the #3 and are these pretty much true breeding?
