Do we need thread ratings? - Website Support - International Cannagraphic Magazine Forums

Just wondering if we need thread ratings on this site? If there's a good thread, it will stay alive on its own, that's how these sites work. If it's not popular but important a mod can make it sticky so it stays on top of the list.

Having ratings where every thread gets 5 stars seems stupid. Rating lesser threads, say giving one a 2 rating does nothing except draw undue attention to a lesser thread.

I've gotten rid of that on my other forums, and can do the same here if you all agree....

You can always count on me to have an opinion but my son, GP and I discussed it recently. It occurred to my son that if we wanted to we could rate each others threads 5 star and I wondered how many ratings it took. Well today my Sour Bubble thread has 5 stars so he must have tried it and it was instant.

That's too easy to have friends do. So I agree with you Skip. I am sure the space could be better used. Any ideas?

I don't want status on a persons posts other than number or posts actually or if on staff. Let others appear equal seems best and having staff kinda out of the fray.

See what I mean about competitiveness and young folks and they want some way to build recognition for their assertions. That's natural and karma was fun at OG but couldnt we have a quick private messaging system like karma that would be quick and convenient? BOG

Actually just quick reply would do...

I have other ideas how people can show off that will be much more productive and instructive than just rating people & threads.

I'm also gonna clean up the mess around the threads. Too many options spread all over the place that could be put all in one pull down menu. I'll place it at the top & bottom of thread pages. OK?
