does aquaponics grow the same microbeasties as tea?

im just wondering if its possible to kill two birds with one shot.

if so, then the fish water will also have nutes in it as well as all the good bacteria/protazoa/flagellates, ciliates and amoeba.

I think pretty much it would next to impossible to NOT have the mirco's show up. There is just far too much organic material around for them to feed on.

Add plenty of air and I bet it just goes faster. Now what would be interesting is if you could run say a Bio Box/ OBBT and cycleit through with aquarium water. It would be really interesting to see how a bio medium would relate with an aquasystem.

well i think that i have answered my own question.

i set up a 30 gallon pond with gravel on the bottom and about 20 goldfish and 1 crayfish, (i call him pinchy).

i have a powerhead that pumps about 150 gal an hour with a foam sponge on the intake for the microherd.

i have been adding the same ingredients as i was adding to my tea- EWC, oatmeal, alfalfa meal, EM1, and they just eat it up.

now i dont know if the microbial population is as plethoric as tea, but all i know is, the fish are happy, the plants are happy and so am i.

You're not going to have the same diversity or concentrations of organisms that you would in the tea, including the fungal hyphae. Not to say it can't be beneficial though.

With a properly made aerated compost tea, you're creating a level of microbial activity that can't be sustained for very long, due to the high O2 demand. That's why there is a brewing cycle and no shelf life with ACT.
