It's no big deal to not know...and as ya said Harry...just flower em until they're finished...etc...

My thought is this...what if I grow this out (and I am because I have so damn many of em I don't know what else to do with em) and find a KILLER plant? I'll know it's a Saga strain...but I wouldn't know which one to go to Seedbay or _______ to buy.

FWIW...I can't help but think that some folks will write off SAGA because they're seeds are free...and because finding out what they grew that they liked seems to be too much trouble/more hassle than it may be worth...especially in the light of the fact that there are thousands of other strains and hundreds of other breeders to choose from.

I guess what I'm saying is that the freebies are awesome...but if you have no idea what they are, it makes it hard to make a purchase from them after the fact.

Again though...no biggie

Okay, here's the scoop.....Gypsy purchased a few of Tony's 'regular stock' items
in bulk...meaning, instead of these seeds being placed in Tony's breeder packs,
they were sold in quantity to Gypsy, but with the understanding that they could
not be marketed under their retail name since they would not be in Tony's breeder packs.
This is often how Gypsy obtains seeds which ultimately are used from time to time as
freebies because it is desireable to give first time growers seeds which perform well.

Let's not forget the real intent of freebies in the first place...they are given as a gift
which are supposed to be passed on to someone else in order to get more growers growing.

Without being in Sag's breeder packs it was agreed that these bulk purchase seeds
would be renamed Gypsy's Magical Mystery Mix and the specific varieties would not
be revealed.

By growing them out it should become apparent to the grower what it is by reading
the descriptions of each of Tony's varieties and looking at the photo evidence
of each variety as displayed in the specific variety descriptions.

These seeds are hardly what I'd call 'bagseed'! These are FREE
prime genetics, given as a gift with purchase. Morgan, where do you get
that you have paid for these? When you make an order, the item ordered is the paid
item........anything else you receive is a free gift which is supposed to be used to
get others growing.

I will still speak to Tony about this during the HT Cup, but honestly, I am not so enthused
to push the issue now.

Yes Harry, I DO know what the varieties are.

Why can't folks just grow them....enjoy them...share them, have a bit of fun trying to figure out
what they are?

*****Merlin.....very nice pics!

I was just kinda hoping for a little guidence as to how long to flower for, dont want chop one when she has a week left that is detremental to a good finish but dont wanna leave one to long and risk mould......for instance are they 2 x 8week finishers and 1x 10 week finisher? that info would help without revealing the strains.
Peace

The best way to determine when any variety is ready is to use a loupe and check the trichs. Some growers like to harvest with 50% cloudy, some perfer 50% amber, and a multitude of other combinations of trich color (clear/cloudy/gold/amber, etc.)

My little pocket microscope(the standard cheapo one in all the growshops) is great,it does the job ad reall helps make it easier...i could be getting it wrong a lot of I was going bu the hairs...I likemostly cloudy with about /3rd amber....maybe a bit more amber but i do take some earlier too in order to provide "day smoke"...
that pocket microscope is the best 15 quid I ever spent!

Thanks for the input but i was hoping to determine when to begin flushing, preferably 2 weeks before harvest and although i am aware of how to judge by clear/cloudyness of tch i am not able to determine when 2 weeks of flowering time remain by this and therfor had to feed plain water earlier (at 6 weeks) to be sure a good flush is had in case of an 8 week finisher. I hope im putting my point across in a way that is understood as i am obviously having difficulty.
Peace

I've got two Magical Mystery plants going, they are day 62 flowering in these images:

The first one is a huge plant that looks like it will have a very large yield compared to the rest of my garden. It has a mild smell maybe mango with a bit of lemon? It looks like maybe it needs a couple more weeks to start finishing off..

The second one is just about ripe I think. It has a strong delicious aroma that reminds me of rum raisin ice cream. I tried a sample bud and it was great smoke; it was a nice day out so I went for a walk, wow was I baked, a happy whole body stone. Neighbors must have been wondering what I was grinning about Gonna be keeping this one

I also want to say a big thank you to Dutchgrown and Gypsy for these seeds. I don't know any other growers personally nor anyone I'd dare to try and convert into a grower. I'll make some seeds in the future and will give those away free if I meet someone suitable.
