Magnesion def.?
Is this a magnesium deficiency? They're about a week into flower, and this just started to show up. I'm using 1 tsp FoxFarm GrowBig, 1tsp TigerBloom, 1/4 Tsp epsom salts per gal. I just watered 2days ago (about when it startedd to show up), so should i water again with some epsom right away or wait awhile? |

hey penguin, It's summer time did your girls get very hot during the day by chance? When you mix in your epsom to your mix are you disolving it in hot water first? And of course the usual water temps? ph?

now I have another fan, hopefully that should help. as for the epsom salts i haven't been dissolving them in hot water first, just a good shake with a lukewarm gallon, but i will try that from now on. Can I water with cold water to help them deal with the heat or will that shock the roots? It's getting worse fast though, the lower fan leaves are yellow and droopy now. Is there anything immediate i can do? |

Check out the new growth for color. Always water by the weight of the pot weigh one with fresh non watered soil to get a good feel for what your plant shoul weigh when it has no water just the plant the pot and the soil. Hell man I'm a newby to but have spent thousands of hours reading and reading some more and only can share what I have done over the past to deal with sick baby issues. I killed many a plant early on I'll admit that but at first I over watered and mother henned them to DEATH. The weight thing worked for me in the end. These plants we grow are millions of years old,If they have not figured out what to do to live by now they never will but we must give them that chance first. And yes epsom salt must be dissolved in hot water to break down the crystals so that it may mix properly with the water but I suggest using Cal Mag instead. My 2 Cents.

looks like mag def... the viens are still green while in between is yellow classic mag def... i always put a whole tsp/gal of epson salt everyother water/feeding and i've never dissolved it, just a good shake. never experienced true mag def. i use epson to controll my ph (bring it down)
and don't use cold water it will shock the roots. if you drink gatoraid (or any drink that comes in gallon jugs) save the gallon jugs and store up a surplus of water. that way you will always have a supply of room temp water. leave the top off for a few days or just a day so that the clorine will evaporate off. clorine and calcium (hard water) can also lockup mag so if you've been watering strait out of the tap this could be the problem |

What kind of filter? a filter containing salts may cause more damage than do good.

Unless you are in a country that has cloera in the water system then i say all soil growers must use fresh water... The plants really need these fresh bacteria! if you dont use fresh water then you must introduce benifical bacteria once a month.
