If your root development is not what you want then increase the perlite or in your case clay gravel.

You can also have soil gnats in your home made soil\compost also. Just add some perlite or play sand to the top of the medium. This will dry the top of the medium out and it will prevent the adults from laving eggs. The larvae will not hatch in dry areas.

Nice looking plants.

Aerobic compost tea


It is made with EWC earthwormcastin one handfull
Humic Acid 15 ml
Fulvic Acid 15 ml
seaweed Extract 15 ml
one teaspoon Molasses

I use it once a week in vegetation

looking good.
I use miracle grow myself and they do great in it. Actually its one of the soils recommended by Mike and crew on their website. And everyone whose grown Mandala strains loves em.

m1, 70 days northwest window, max 4hours light on longest day of summer ///within that light is shading tree around 2 hours, 2litre pot, 60cm tall
