Was out buying some coffee last night

Decided to try a new brand(well for me) named Kicking Horse.

It comes from out west, fair trade and organic, and it is above my expectations

I have to say probably the best coffee I have ever home brewed myself.

At 16 dollars a 1/2 pound of full beans, it was a bit past my normal cost for a can of Nabob, but I have a new favorite

Has anyone else experienced this yet, if not what are some of your favorite premium coffees?

I'll be watching this one.. Time to make the leap to grinding my own with premium beans.

That said, I'm currently enjoying the Seattle's Best Organic House Blend, and I like their Breakfast blend a lot too. I try lots of random pre-ground coffee so long as it isn't flavored, but those two are the only ones that jump to my head as ones that have become repeat purchases.

I have a Bunn coffeemaker that I like a lot too, makes a decent cup from just about anything and takes like 3 minutes to fill a pot, so figured I would mention my satisfaction as long as coffee is the topic.

I have been thinking about importing premium coffee from now on. Of course I will still keep my normal everyday blends( for bulk drinking, you know those days) but a good cup of a premium really makes my day

I cannot tell you how much it augmented my buzz last night. It is the kind of coffee, you get at a great restaurant, and wonder, where can I get this.

as for a coffee maker, I have el cheapo under the cabinet coffee maker, but it come in a thermal carafe, making it hot for hours, without the burning of the bottom.

Dr Dog if you are interested in importing premium coffee imo visit the area's your preffered coffee is produced in and talk with the local farmers. You will find the prices to be quiet reasonable when talking with the farmers directly and showing your compassionate side. This can sidestep the middlemen. The local farmers even if the product is grown organically and selling for 16 dollars a half pound, they usually recieve a small fraction of that price. The bulk of the money is in the pockets of the exporters and retailers/wholesalers where the money is not re-invested back into the community where the coffee was produced.

This is not intended to get a cheap price and take advantage of the situation, but rather give a fair price for both yourself and the farmer. This will go a very long with the relationship formed between yourself the farmer and community.

Is it chance that my favorite blends of coffee are from the equtorial zones on this earth and so do my preffered tropical sativa cannabis?

Hey there, admitted morning coffee junkie here. That kicking Horse is almost local for me. Good stuff for real , but a little pricey for a tight ass like me. I drink the Nabob medium roast organic, still very nice. Peace GS

kicking horse is a ski resort in golden, BC. my god they have awesome pow. and apparently their coffee is good too!

ok so technically its not Golden... but its right next door, in the mountains. high alititude roasting is one of the things they like to advertise. anyhoo this thread is about how delicious it is... ill have to get a bag and try it out!

you guys grind your beans fresh?

Nabob is preground. I used to have this Mr. Coffee maker I could put the beans in it night before, then set the alarm. In the morning I would be awakened by the sound of the beans grinding. The machine the dropped the coffee into the filter and began to brew. What a nice way to wake up. If I have beans I grind as I use. Keeps 'em freshest. Peace GS
