Vertical Hydro sog Question - Vertical / Colosseum Growing - International Cannagraphic Magazine Forums

I am not familiar with Hydro terminology or methods but I understand that oxygen and ph are key to success...I have a few runs with soil and 250hps. I want to get a 400hps in a cool tube and hang it in the middle of a pvc frame built out of 4 inch whyes with a 2 inch reducer capped at both ends with a rotor sprinkler on the top ... I want to try and do most of this myself... I goin to use my 250 and make an aero cloner...my questions now... Should i fill the pvc with hydroton rocks...? Are net pots necessary or can i put rooted rockwool cubes directly into the pvc? Is 18 plants too much for a coliseum with a 400w? wat determines the size of a resevior?

so at first the net pots are a must - wouldnt have done it without them because you can just build up the system fill it with hydroton (the netpots will keep the hydroton in) and you can then fill it with plants!
i would definetly use hydroton because it can be fed 24/7 and it doesnt suck too much water ...
18 plants are not enough - go at least with 32 to have a nice sog

Wat about using the tiny chunks of rockwool as opposed to the hydroton rocks? Do I need to aerate the pvc collums each individually or just have decent aeration in the res.?

At work today it dawned on me that it mite be better to just invest in another 250 and tear both of them apart and run 500 watts of mh+hps... just crazy idea...
