If your thinking of breeding dogs for food, you may be on to something...

Hehe, yea the only way to get lotsa cash on dogs is to pretty much be an unethical puppy mill. And you gotta realize, getting good breeding stock is EESSPPPENNSIIVVVEE. If you're willing to get a good chunk of land, spend a good grip of cash, willing to learn the breed's standard (not as easy as you'd think) and select only the healthiest, best tempered, athletic examples of the breed, then you might be onto something.
You could probably sustain a reclusive backwoods lifestyle easier with breeding dope to be honest... |

It's possible to make money, but it takes a lot of time and investment and there are no sure things. You'll have to attend a lot of shows, win a lot of awards before your dogs are worth anything in breeding stock terms. Expect to invest years with little or no payoff at all.
If you love the breed, and you love the shows, you love training them, and spending all your time with dogs, then you might be right for dog breeding. It's not for everyone, but some people wouldn't have it any other way!

Personally knowing all the posts that you have made having to do with dogs. I think it might be perfect for you. Lots of time, love, care and $$$$$ are involved thought. Not knowing you in real life, I have no clue if it something you would stick with over the long haul.
As you already know there are good breeders and there are the scum of the earth puppy mill kind. I think the good breeders are in it for the dogs/breed and don't make much money. I'm sure they make some, but I doubt they live off it. |

I want a Newfoundland dog. The closest legitimate (to me anyways) breeders are about a 6 hour drive. They have several award winning moms and pops. The pups are very expensive, but their health is guaranteed. They are large frame dogs and can get up to 160 lbs. NOKUY, you probably know what a Newfy looks like, similar to Yukon but most are black and a wider frame.
These are kind of fat.
