How does this look so far for a vertical shelf grow?
Im still working on my first grow, but for the next one id like to use the space in my DR120 4x4' more efficiently, horizontally and vertically - frankly im not using either effectively, but im working on it
![]() here are my plans, disregard the bottom left, that's my spinning disk idea, but im really digging the shelf idea as i already know where i can get cheap shelves, 15$ at ikea, not even worth making them myself. i would use a cooltube, i already have one, with reflector but i could remove the reflector and mount upwards, have the ducting, have the fan. i would still use my same 3' long CAN filter but id definitely opt for turning my s+p fan up to full speed. The plants i would like to grow would start as 6 inch tall minis in 4 inch pots, but i would transplant them into 1/2gal growbags and sit them 8 to a tray, home made trays with pond liner, drain and hose to the next shelf down, same ordeal until the bottom where it collects in a 5 gal container. however i would like to move up a step from 400w.. would a 1000w be too much light for the distance the bulb will be from the foliage? probably a foot or so? i could let the plants grow under MH while they size up allowing them to grow through a scrog material or other apparatus for keeping them erect.. Then mount the HPS for flowering(i was given a 1000w HPS bulb today fo free!) i did the quick math and it looks like 2gpw if they yield 1 oz each. In reality, I dont know how much they could each yield... constructive criticism? |

I think that tent is more suitable for a 600w when going vertical, but maybe you'll prove me wrong.
![]() The purpose of the screen in a vert grow is usually just to keep the plants back at the optimum distance from the light to allow more plants/buds to be getting direct light. The closer the plants get to the light the smaller your plant canopy becomes. |

id like to use very sturdy screen material like a plastic fence because then the trunk of hte plant can rest upon it even all teh from the back, and keep it level, horizontal-ish as it points towards the light; netting wouldnt work that well i dont think..
600w eh? hmm thanks for the thought mate PS I FOUND SUNNYDOGS THREAD, HOLY DEJA VU. exactly what i wanted to do, so basically, i know exactly what can be done with something similar. HOORAH |
