Grapefruit and topping

Hey Ferry,

Could you tell me wether you think grapefruit would react well to topping at about the 6th or 7th internode. She is currently at 5th internode and I need to make a decision over the next few days.

Cheers in advance

Grapefruit is perfect for pruning or ''topping''

By all means top her.
I have two in 1 gal pots waiting to be xplanted into 2.5 gal. They are both 45 days from germination. I only bothered to shoot this one so you can see what to expect.
I will be running a thread on these onc I put them into 12/12.
I started noticing assymetry at day 30. I also have FS white widow in also and the topped girls seem to go asymetrical a week b4 the untopped ones.

Cheers guys.

I have had alot of success topping this baby, it has now grown into a lovely bush just over a foot high and about a foot and a half wide after 6 weeks of veg. Its getting 2 days of dark over the weekend as Im off to the dam and then its onto 12/12.

Just got a chance to upload some pics. They are not the best qulaity as my camera hasnt got a flash but this is what happens when you top grapefruit a couple of times.

She is now day 21 12/12 under a 400w HPS so has just about finished stretching and the buds are coming together nicely. She is actually wider than she is tall and Ive ended up with a nice flat canopy of buds.

this is one of my FSGrapefruits. She started 12/12 on Aug 15, 8 weeks from germ.
I topped only once and she looks stringy compared to MW's. Interesting how the multiple toppings kept MW's squat and bushy. Since mine started from seed and went to flwr as soon as ready, I can see how the result is different. Can I ask how many times she was topped b4 12/12? I think I will have the same result working from her clones.
I had to set her on the floor since her tops are above the light line. The other one I have isn't as tall yet, but she too will have to be set lower. The rest of the girls are FS WW, DP Fem'd WW, and FS NLxBigBud.
This is my first grow with a predominant sativa and I am learning it's fert requirement is a bit different than the Indica based.

This first pic was 5 days ago, the others are today

Her buds are developing nicely. I made cuttings on the day I put the girls into 12/12. They all have taken and I will have some nice mothers to work with. I think it will be a couple of grows of Grapefruit b4 I get her down pat, but I've been told it will be well worth it.
P.S. they are under a 1000w Hortilux

Hi closet. Nice pics.

I think topping the grapefruit brings out the C99 characteristics and with a 4/5 week period of veg and topping it will produce a short stout plant that is just ready to explode when you put it into 12/12.

I topped her twice, 1st time at the 6th internode. I then topped the new growing tips after they had developed and grown an internode. This has produced a dome shaped canopy. The center is packed with tops and very even and it drops off on the sides as the light intensity decreases.

My plant is now so big I have been showing deficiencies at 900ppm and it will strip 150ppmm from the nutes in 24 hours. I have had to up it to 1200ppm to halt the problem but I reckon by the time Im in week 7 and adding P/K boosters I'll be up at 1600ppm at least
