when to harvest???

i have a few white widows and a few skunk #1's 39 days into flowering in a dwc setup with a 250w hps light. im trying to get an idea of when to harvest. i have heard of people ranging from 45days to 75days for their harvest time. i have also heard a few different ideas about harvesting early or late. just looking for someone to explain it to me. thanks

What color are the resin glands? The pistil isn't always the best way to judge how "ripe" a plant is.

Can anyone tell me what happens if a plant gets "too ripe".....or can that be done?

Take care,
