Rule 1 and 2: Never go shopping without a list or hungry
Keep a piece of paper near you during the day and when you get ideas for shopping, write them down. Before going, review the list and consolidate. Start with breakfast ideas: Sausage bacon eggs waffles maybe frozen syrup bisquick makes good pancakes bagels with cream cheese Cereal and milk instant oatmeal Staples: Sugar Flour yeast baking soda baking powder cinnamon: cowboys always carried this...cinnamon toast with butter? tea coffee lemon juice butter olive or canola oil (add red wine vinegar, oregano, salt/pepper, and garlic to make a nice salad dressing) cheese crackers rice potatoes onions Lunch: maybe sandwiches (need bread) like fried bologna and mayo hot dogs a salad so pick your fav veggies Dinner: I plan a meal out for each of 7 days like Fish Spaghetti and noodles Chicken...buy a whole one and cut it up yourself. Fried chicken, or chicken casserole, or chicken salad sandwiches burritos with hamburger (cheese, sour cream, salsa, lettuce, guacamole if lucky) Homemade pizza Steak and baked potato Fried cube steak with homemade gravy Cheese burgers with homemade fries Be sure to include a couple veggies or small salad with your meal. Home supplies: Laundry soap and bleach (clean with it too) Dish soap Toilet paper trash bags aluminum foil storage bags Personal care: Razors and shave cream Bar soap Shampoo deodorant multivitamins condoms (I want to try the new Trojan ecstasy )toothpaste Buy what's in season. I blanched (boiled shortly) corn that was 20 cents an ear and froze when I didn’t have anything else to do. Corn on the cob in winter. Look at the stores sale paper online maybe. They usually have the sale paper at the front door. Shop more than 1 store. Extra pocket change? Cans of veggies and meat don't go bad for a couple of years. Throw a couple cans of salmon to the local poor folk food pantry for Smooth and keep 1. Salmon croquettes anyone?. I like to get stoned with a cookbook or cooking magazines and come up with new ideas or a twist on a old favorite. Library has a ton of free cookbooks. Hope that gives you a start... Peace Smooth B Just wanted to try out this new icon...
