Stealth + Vert + 250 watts
After a short hiatus from the forums, I'm back and ready to start up another log. Hopefully a few of my mistakes and successes can help someone else out there who's looking to start their grow also, not to mention all the wonderful feedback here.
***Round 2 with C99 starts halfway down page five.... HERE*** First a little background info... FLOWER CAB 15 inches deep, 28 inches wide, and 35 inches high, it is a hollowed out dresser. She is stealthy. Lit with a 250 watt HPS mounted vertically, cooltube and all. The cab will be cooled with a moded stanley blower and a heavy duty computer fan pulling through a DIY scrubber. A standard everyday fan sits at the bottom by the intake, and blows directly onto the bulb and cooltube. From the outside Here's a shot of the flower cab... VEG CAB My now veg cab was my previous flower cab on my old thread. The converted cabinet was slimmed down and only carries 4 (qty) 23W CFL's for now and illuminates a base of 15” x 23”. This cab stands slightly shorter than the flower cab at 32” high. Ventilated with a two 4” inline duct fans and she is a marijuana making machine. From the outside Here's a shot of the veg cab... DISTRACTIONS FOR STEALTH I deal with the fan noise by placing an air filter right on top of my cabs. Any sound of wooshing air is immediately blamed on my bad allergies and need for this air filter. I also needed a way to hide my stanley blower fan. I ended up making it into an inline fan and now it sits on top of the cab inside a box. Out of plain sight, and the box acts as a bit of a muffler. All the sides are caulked up and sealed, and I used velcro to make a removable door on the back of each cab. There's a few light leaks here and there, but they are minimal and are overtaken by something as bright as a computer screen. |

Strain Info
DSD x OHS1 – Double Strawberry Diesel (Funky pheno) x (Original Haze x Skunk #1) This will be my first time playing with this cross. The DSD was a crystally bitch who smelled like funky socks while the OHS1 male smelled like lemons and showed sex fairly early. PPP – Nirvana's Pure Power Plant. Thanks for the FreePees SB! NH – New Purple Power x Hashberry. A sticky girl with fat colas, a green pheno of Nirvana's New Purple Power crossed with a vigorous Hashberry male from mandala. I've had the joy of growing her out before. Here's a shot of her from years past. ![]() ... OHS1 - Original Haze x Skunk #1 F2 I made from earlier this summer. A lemon smelling plant with long crystally buds. I only got to take her to ~35 days before I had to cut her short last time and am really looking forward to getting a final product from these. ... And TNT Mix from the awesome fellows at SB! ... C99 from xyz. Originally from Wallyduck's stock. Medium Info Sunshine Mix #4 with a bit of extra perlite tossed in. I plan on using earth juice's organic grow and bloom through this grow. I changed over to hydro with GH during my last grows and my buds just didn't taste quite as good as my organics, even with more than ample flushes. So I'm back to organics and the simplicity of not having to fuck with pH makes me more than happy... |

And so this brings us to the beginning of the journal. First and foremost, bring on the chatter. Feedback makes me happy and keeps things interesting. I'll try my best to answer any questions I can, especially those pertaining to my setup.
We can also make it a habit of trying to update on mondays, because otherwise I like to fall behind and leave large gaps during the grow cycle... So it brings us to the seeders in veg DSD x OHS1 PPP NH |

The screen is secured to the back walls. It is 28" wide (back section), 15" deep (sides), and covers from the top of the cab down about 22". Generally the screen is about 8-12" away from the edge of the cooltube. I plan on tieing the plants back to the screen like a vertical scrog.
Feel free to pop a squat and smoke one of the fatties rolling around

It could be fit that way. My worries were watering would get to be a bitch while having to maneuver around the screen, especially to the plants on the back wall.
And it was simply easier to mount the screen to the back wall, and now I get to enjoy a little LST time with the ladies... |

This should be good. I would think you would be able to get closer than 8'' with a cool tube wouldn't ya?
I'm going vertical with my 150w and my gals are going to be about 3'' from the bulb hehe. |

Ya I definitely will be closer than 8". I will be tieing her to the inside of the screen and still letting them grow towards the light.
I've designed two other cabs with this 250 and always had heat problems. So for now, the screen is going to stay on the walls. If there are no heat issues, maybe I'll consider moving the screen in. Let's wait and see ![]() Thanks for dropping by everyone. |
