Suggestion to move the videos - Website Support - International Cannagraphic Magazine Forums

i have no idea how old that part of the forum is, but it doesnt look like there is much activity. if it wasnt for karmagirl directing me to it after i posted a video in the incorrect section, i would have never found the videos on icmag. i really really think the video section should get its own spot somewhere in the main page at https://www.icmag.com/ic . maybe somewhere inbetween Show it! and Talk about it! maybe?

Left column on main forum page: Latest Videos.

Left column on Real home page https://www.icmag.com/ : Latest Videos.

If you can't see the left column because you've turned it off then you are missing a huge part of the site, and it was your choice.

I'm seeing 400 or so videos there. So I wouldn't say there isn't much activity.

I think you missed the point, I also never saw it until KG redirected someone's post..
You can blame people for not looking, but I think he has a point, it's not in the forums list like the other forums, and by the number of views/replies, he is correct, hardly any activity at all..

It's not in the forums because it isn't a forum or subforum. It's a section. I don't think it's possible to put a seperate section in the middle of the forums.

I really don't see how you can "miss" the left column unless you've turned it off. In which case you should turn it on.

We can't force ppl to explore the site, but this should indicate to you that you're missing a lot more than just videos.

Have you ever seen the journals? The Strainguide?

BTW, in everyone's profile there are links right at the top that say "my videos", "my journals" etc. Did you miss those too?

There's also the Site Menu right at the top of every page on the site that lists all the features of Icmag that aren't forums.

Posts made in forums fade fast. Posts made in other sections stick around a long time and get more traffic.

The forums are just one part of this big site that is growing more everyday.

If you've subscribed to your favorite forums or use the Active Threads feature, there really isn't much of a reason to use the forum list to find stuff.

Anything is possible, but introducing the videos or journals on to the main part of the page would require another complex query that would slow down the server somewhat every time that popular page gets loaded.

The left column list uses a much simpler query for the same thing.

You just can't put EVERYTHING on one page without consequences.

actually it is almost invisible.. I did not see it or even know it was there until I was told.... And no there isnt hardly any traffic there either. And I also cannot even make a post in the music section as it says I dont have permission.. Why even make a music section iof no one can find it or post in it? And also it would be alot simplier just to have it on the main forum page lie all the other sections.. I dont see how it would slow anything down. Im pretty sure its just forum politics behind it though.. But w/e..

try asking what it costs to run these servers for one month.. to slow down the servers at all can be very detrimental to ones bank account. optimization is key to technology, to under estimate that is just... wrong?

If you wanna get all technical, the whole bunch of breeder forums could be made into one section with subforums.. So could the assload of language sections.. It could be one section with sub forums.. I ran my own website and forums for 10+ years.. webservers arent THAT expensive.. And adding 1 little forum section to the main page isnt going to slow anything down at all.. But I mean, hey, its not my shit so my opinion doesnt count for anything a I am just a lowly member trying to get in where I fit in.. Im just saying.
