Bud rot sucks, i have delt with it alot in my past 3 grows, i detect it by a dying leaf coming out of the bud, if i see one sure as shit , spread tha bud apart and BAM! bud rot. I m going the dehumidifier route and i also have vastly improved my intake /exhaust and overall air curculation. Well see what happens, right now im fighting the BORG (MITES) they suck!

I can relate Benito this bueaty was claimed by rot:
And the real bummer was it set in at a very early stage and hit alot of the smaller buds as well so i had no choice but to chop her. Just out of curiosity ,what strain gave you a 3 oz cola? peace bonz

I kind on knew I was going to get called out on that one, I was pretty high when I posted that bold claim That 3 OZ was like 5 seconds after chop weight so that is like what I call "fisherman" weight sorry. The strain was WYD. I've been doing this to my plants But sometimes this happens too Oh I don't want to highjack this thread more then I already have sooo...to get back to the subject of bubblers, the big bud next to the jameson bottle was grown using a crappy Emily's Garden...the simplest of the bubble newbie method...so don't let the guys at the grow shop try to sell you on some expensive NFT or Aero system...unless you got the cash and like to mess around...you can grow fatties, cheaply and easily. |

how much light through top?
Hi Dr. D
I love this thread and the simple set up. I started this new grow yesterday and have a question about how much light can get in through top cover. I have the outside of bucket covered so that no light can enter from sides, however, the top is just the lid that came with bucket and is not completely opaque. How much light can safely get into bucket without causing too much algea? Thanks. 5 gallon bucket with top cut with screen added after adding pellets, airstone, and cuttings. top view |

Hey all true i was lookin at those submersible air pumps, onlly problem being wen the roots fill the bucket they cud engulf the pump...i also thought it may let off too much heat sat in such a small amount of water...is u temp ok with lights on? if so it will more than likely get hotter with lights on and that will cause problems root rot etc. id go for a heat mat then set it to go on wen the lights go off a 12 x 12 inch heat mat is quite cheap and only 12 watt.
Hey know one if u can get some aluminium tappe and cove rthe lids with it that will block out any light. Just to be sure, u dont want any light getting in...be sure to post some pics of ur grow here or give me a link to to grow thread...peace

Hi all,My understanding is the same as BuzzBoy. 80's is a little too high and 68 is about the minimum, during lights on. Lights off I'm not sure it matters that much. I also like Dr. D's idea about the hot pad, maybe wrap it around pot (electrical possibilities?). I also saw several entries about the air pump in bubblers. Where I come from, they recommend using the larger of the two pumps Wal-Mart sells (in the pet/aquarium section), with their air stones. Their tubing is clear and you really need black. I got mine where they sell sprinkler/drip systems for the garden (Home Depot). It's what I use, cheap, available, and easy, as far as I'm concerned. I'm sure you could do better, but why? It works. They also recommend wrapping the buckets (lids also) with some sort of light shield. Light in the res will cause algae to grow which will kill the plants. I use black/white plastic. I would guess this would help insulate the bucket to keep the temp fairly constant and not effected by lights/night temps as much?? And those are my thoughts on the matter, for what it's worth ![]() All the best, Mary

tnx Buzz and Mary...so; no less than 68F (20C) for water in tank..now its around 21C...just on the start of the "day" is around 19C(66F)...air temp...is 16-17C(60F-62F) too low for "night"?
tnx...&stay high btw...for tank i use a 25liters picnic cooling bag..:-))..so no need for insulation... airpump&airstone is missing in there...will buy as soon as possible... |
