Hi everyone, im new, check out my grow?

Hi all. Here is my vert grow. Please critique it to the max. I know it isn't max efficiency because it isn't a coliseum, but I don't like the idea of a coliseum, that cant be torn down and hidden. This grow can be removed within an hour, and I can use the shelves for clothes "if needed".

I have one 400 watt hps over a 400watt MH. And a strip of mixed 42watt "red cfls" and 23watt "blue cfls" (six total)

On the top side I decided to put a strip of the same cfl combo.

Should I swap the CFL strip on the top to the other side? I just don't want so much heat buildup on the wall, it seems like a bad idea.

Comments please?

Oh and I was thinking of putting my 5gallon beer ferment-er in there to add co2 to the closet. Will this make a difference of just waste of space?

What are my options for a co2 generator?

I am thinking of adding some more floros on the back side of the shelves, or should I move all the lights only to one wall?

hey and welcome!
your cab is lookin very unusuall i have to admit but for fitting around 1000w on this tiny space is not easiely done so you have my respect - ever thought of dumping those reflectors and put the plants around the light - in my opinion i would start to think about that at first before even think about co2!

but still very cool and easy looking!

Well I don't want the plants to burn and I don't have the loot for a cool tube... watts are about 1200 with cfls and 2 400watt hids.

The design is nice because the shelves can move everything front or back from the lights for easy adjustments.

I am thinking of dumping the large part of the bottom reflector, its a very narrow span of a light... hmmmmmm

Don't ferment beer in there. It will ruin the beer.

Hmm, Well from what i see you have the MH at the bottom a Hps on the top and floros on the tippy top, First if ya have the room i would run your MH during veg only, for shorter node spacing and we will be savin electric too. Once you are ready to go 12 and 12 switch bulbs over to hps. The floros i can do without this way you run one light at a time, save space and electric...Can you fit a tray in there? With 4-6 girls in there under a 400 watt your yeild should be just as good and im betting better. Also, do some research on "toping" so you get you plants to push out more colas and be more robust in general....hmmm let me know whats good!

Your setup is duplicating a flat horizontal grow, this method doesn't give you the benefits that vertical growing does unless you dump the reflector and place your plants in a ring around the 400w HPS.

You will probably be able to skip a cooltube if you place a fan below the light, point it straight up and it will blow the heat off the bulb. You will be surprised how close you can grow those nuggets without problems.

If the ambient temps are high and you do need to address the heat in your growarea, build a DIY cooltube using a bake-a-round pyrex tube.

Easy Peasy project, made one myself....I didn't realize that my 1000w bulb would restrict the airflow too much to be effective. I had to go buy a 6" CoolTube, it gets hot here in the spring, summer, and fall.

AnyWhoo, the main thing to do so you can maximize the use of whatever light is used is to circle those plants around the bulb, and lose the reflector.

Good Luck, JeffAir

So should I take all the shelves out? I kind of liked them because its much easier to water than a flat grow. Also I am getting more grow area this way because the shelves == more surface area than using just the floor.

It will be a fun grow as I have maybe 25 or so plants in there, and will try to reveg them all at once after harvest

Ambient temps are usually in the 70s (AC).

yes i would remove shelves pretty sure ull be better off with something like the pic above. and like i said before use the mh for veg and the hps for flower ull save electrisity and get bette node spacing.
