help design my friends veritcal room
hi
my med friend is putting together a grow room. hes already got one small grow for his indicas for heavy hitter meds and he wants to run another room for bigass sativa-dom trees, so i reccomended to him that he runs vertical 1ks bare bulb and surround each light with 6 plants in big soilless buckets. hes got 4kw-6kw to work with for lights. the room is 8x8x8. im thinking its pretty easy to hang 4 or 5 or 6 lights up and put some plants around them so theres not really help needed for that part but the part we are stumped is the ventiliation or cooling. both of us aren't sure if it should be a sealed a/c room w/ co2 or wether to run exhaust. he can vent into the attic and theres a window in the room that he can draw a fresh air from. if he runs exhaust / intake setup, he'd need some pretty big ass fans to keep a 4kw room cool i'm thinking... he can't put in a giant 2000cfm blower cause of noise issues. i know in the other room hes got 2x 675cfm can fan max's going 24/7 in the attic on duct mufflers and hooked up to carbon filters and you can barely hear them outside the door. any idea of what kind of fans we'd need to put in to keep it cool?? summers almost over so im thinking that it might be doable depending on what cfm is needed. and if he runs a/c sealed w/ co2 i reccomended to him to build a window a/c box of about 24k btus and draw in fresh air for the side coils for it from the window (using a baffle of some sort to keep it inconspicious) and vent the a/c exhaust into the attic. exhaust / intake pros: -cheaper -less electricity -simple and easy to setup -doable now that summer heat is soon to be gone cons: -noise -no co2 a/c sealed co2 room pros: -co2 more yield -less noise cons: -expensive -complicated building an a/c box (never done it before) what you all think. by the way ive convinced him to run Western Winds and Kali Mist side by side... maybe some super silver haze too!! wooooo its gonna be awesome, big ass sativa trees! |

ok, i just read a thread where a guy on this board ran 4kw vertical with only a 747cfm fan and he left his door open. i think going with exhaust fans and a smaller intake fan is the way to go

So your thinking about running 5 or 6 1000 watt lights with no A/C and a 747cfm exhaust fan or sealing the room and just using an A/C? I'd go A/C hands down... without a doubt.... 7 days a week and twice on sundays! In the end I feel the cost is WELL worth it. An A/C box is a relatively simple thing to build. I love A/c for the lack of noise, and the added control of both temp and humidity. I personally would rather give up a light to add A/C, for the extra Insurance of making it to harvest that A/C provides. I have seen people do well without them, but never with 6 lights.

A/C is a must!!! ur gonna end up growing schwag because plants wont grow properly with 6k's baking them. you'll get some kinda yield but it wont be that shit u wanna put in the air urself (wont be med grade) Resin Lung is correct, i'd give up 2 lights jus for a window a/c unit!!!!!!
