anybody ever use these lights?





It is a Vapor Tight Fixture, Ceiling Mount 150-watt HPS lamp. 120/277-volt HX ballast (NPF). Lamp included. Lamp is 16000 lumens. You would not believe how ridiculously cheap it is priced. Under $40. Any info ( such as ease of tearing it apart for remote ballast, heat from ballast with it on) appreciated.

Okay a very nice looking little lamp, price is about average to what I bought my 150 hps security lamp for from homedepot. Anyway's it had a bigger base, maybe more air space between componet's. My point, the size of componet's in a 150 watt ballast could fit in the base of that fixture. At best I see the ease to take the socket out, extend the wire lead's from the fixture base to the socket, about 6ft of length is good, but the shorter it can be the better. At same time you can put an extension on the input power cord so that it work's in your area. I like using the orange outdoor extension power cord's. Three 14 gauge wire's with adequate ratting and it look's clean.

I have found putting 3 prong plug's on the cord to help. One is near the bulb socket in the hood, simply disconnect and hood move's around with ease. Also if you trip on the cord it only comes unplugged and not ripping down the hood onto the grow.

So are the ballast componet's in the base of that fixture? I see 4 screw's holding a plate around the socket and the would be removed after the cage around the bulb was, at least that is how it look's to me.

Were did you locate that lamp at? I gifted my 150hps to another some time back and kinda miss it and it would be nice to have one again, so do tell.
