That's awesome that you grow your own hops.!! What kind are you growing.? I have my list of favorites.. hehe.
No.. Hops hate life here. it must be the latitude or something. Me and everyone in our brew club here are baffled. We have all tried to grow them, but it's all the same.. grows fast in the beginning. and then just dies all the sudden. it might also be the sulfuric acid in the air too.. we do have a huge volcano that is emitting gas. and is fully active. Oh well.. I just have to suffer the consequences of paying for it.. lol. it's like 3 bucks an oz i think at my friends shop down the street.. I really don't know the exact price. i will check tomorrow. I usually just pay the bill and then go brew. lol it's all about the fun and enjoyment of it.. |

oh man thats awesome dude. I actually want to try and make a still - like in MASH with Klinger from Toledo. Beer seems too time consuming and not very cost-efficient

SACKMAN.! you need to brew dude.. it's the fundamental aspect of our lives.. without home brew.. the planet would not revolve well.. hahaha
I brew 15gal at a time. I like my American Pale ales. Brown ales, Robust porters. and Belgian beers. I also do meads. and some wine. Brewing is so fun for me.. I'm always wanting to strive for something different in taste.. no matter what you think of in your head .. you can brew it.. the taste and different beers are endless.. |

H^2O thats killer. There are stills that are like 2gal that are a good price .. we have one in the brew club that we can all use.. i have not got around to it yet..
Friend of mine here is going to be the first person to start a Stillery here on the islands.. he is going to make rum. and most of it out of the island fruits here.. i tasted some and it was awesome.. It's also 80.000 dollars for a 75 gallon copper still. so he has investors.. lol.. that's an expensive item for only 75 gallons.. Made in Germany so he says it's the best around.. |

I have a crazy buddy that did a batch using our favorite flower. The trick was to do a hot water wash before adding them in. It was a very. . unique brew. .
I've never had a taste for hops, I've used a lot of odd ingredients over the years instead of them. |

I grow cascades and centennials. I would like to get my hands on some simcoe... I like the citrusy and pinier hops myself. I built a potstill way back when but I'd like to spend some time and not too much money (
80 G's!!!!! ) on building a refractory still.

Centennial, cascade, Amarillo, and Simcoe are my favorite hops by far.. I love that sweet citrus smell it leaves.
I've been into putting a few pounds of fresh honey in my beers as well.. it gives a little more final gravity and has a good note when the beer has aged in the bottle. |

Just never prime with honey as it ferments completely and can cause overcarbonation!!! I learned the hard way lol

New brewer here! Did about 10, 3 to 5 gallon batches over the winter. Mostly IPA's. LOVE it!
Also doing kit red wine and the infamous Apfelwein. I figure it all fits in together! |
