To all the smoking Moms....
I started smoking when I was a sophmore in highschool. It was great.... get outta school, roll out in my girl's car and smoke a joint on the way home, and have time to chill before my parents got home from work.
So, one of these fine days, I get home, and..... OH SHIT! MOM'S HOME FROM WORK EARLY!!! Ok... ok, no sweat... I'll just sroll in, go straight to the bathroom like I gotta pee, and brush my teeth and make sure I dont wreek of weed. I come out a few mins later, head to the kitchen to grab some water to take to my room, and get intercepted by Mom..... A very upset looking Mom. And the whole time Im thinking.... shit, she knows... SHIT, SHE'S GONNA TELL MY DAD!!!She totally breaks down crying, saying that she's sorry for being a bad Mom and hopes that I can forgive her. And proceeds to tell me of how she and my father have been smoking marijuana since they were teenagers, exept during pregnancys and nursing, and she wants the both of them to quite because she's worried that it makes her a bad parent. I explained to her that she is an awsome Mom. And that there was no need to forgive her for anything done wrong. I told her that I was smoking pot also, and it turned out to be one of the coolest conversations I've ever had with my mother. My mother and I now smoke together, however that didn't begin until I was well moved out and had gained the respect of an adult. I now have a son of my own. And I have to say, that now I know the worry and the pressure and lack of self confidence when it comes to being a parent.... Hoping that your doing everything right. And I think that even if I didn't smoke marijuana, I would have the same feelings. I guess thats what makes us good Moms.

Me. We had to tell them when they were kids not to tell anybody or we would go to jail. But never smoked any with them untill they were adults. I tried to get my Mother to smoke it when she was alive to help with her pain, but she didn't care for the smoke part.

mj def. brings families together! I've been toking with my sister since we were girls, & there is no one I love to get silly stoned with more than my sis!
just last summer my dad asked to come on my evening walk (& toke) with me. we started talking about herb & he told me about how his brother used to send him herb when he was serving in Vietnam. he described it to me, & I talked about some of the dift. herb I had at the time, he seemed really interested, so I pulled out a jar containing a really nice nug from my pocket. he seemed impressed so I then asked if he wanted to toke. I knew he had toked when he was in college, but always thought he stopped when he met my mom; come to find out he has been toking (part-time) all of this time & hiding it from her, (she thinks "potheads are lazy"... she would be shocked to find out my workaholic dad tokes!) toking together has made us closer; we sit, talk & toke, spending more time together than we ever used to. it's really nice to have something like that to share with him. he's a very stressed out guy with high blood pressure & cholesterol, so I think toking does him a lot of good. he's even mentioned wanting to grow!! (though I advised him it might not be a good idea with my mom not 'knowing' or approving, esp. considering the state is not compassionate.) herb brings families together!

All we can do is be up front, and honest with our children, and expect the same from them. Hopefully, our children will feel comfortable enouph to come to us with questions reguarding drugs. And when that times comes, I can only hope that I will be wise in my answers.

You don't have to be a lying hypocrite. Leave that up to the politicians. You tell your children not to drink or take pills to get high, right? Yet children grow up to learn that alcohol is acceptable, even though it's very dangerous.Talk to them about it now, explain to them. Kids are not dumb and they will ask at a lot younger age than you think. MJ will be legalized soon, and should be treated like any other "vice",with an age limit and consequences for abusing it just like booze.I told my 90 year old FIL about getting my MMJ card. He looked at me and said,"Well you guys have been smoking pot for years."
So much for Gramps not knowing, huh? Then he said if it helps me,and I qualify for legal use,I should do it.That was very surprizing, but shows how the public views on legal MJ is changing.
