What size cabinet for a 600 watt vert/coli setup?

I have a 30 plant card and want to plant a decent number in a cabinet but be able to yield the most amount possible and I think vertical would be the best route.

I want to run 20 to 25 plants, which leaves me 5 moms to cut clones from. These 20-25 would be under a quantum dimmable 600 hps light simply hanging with an adjustable yo-yo hanger so I can raise and lower IF needed.

I have a 400+ cfm fan with an adjustable control so I can regulate the intake/exhause flow.

I want to build it out of 2x4 and plywood. I want to use soil for organic purposes.

What would be the optimum height/depth/width for a 600 hps light grow cabinet?

Would an octagon build out perform square?

New to vert but want to play around with it because scrog shows proof quickly how well it performs and I keep hearing about vert so I wanted to give it a shot as well.

4ft x 4ft with 4 plants gives consistently 20+oz in coco, which is getting on for 1gm/oz ...... I can't see you getting more by using a SCROG in soil ....IMHO

20 - 25 plants won't give you more yield unless you go coliseum and hydro

Coli Hydro hmmn

I was planning on building a few 4x4x8 setups so maybe I will have a go at this. Not sure if I will start off coli hydro or not. Test out the organic soil end weight itself.

1g/w sounds right up my alley for what I am looking for anyways and want to get more than what scrog has been giving OR if anything a simpler method so I don't have to play around with that damn screen all the time.

Are there any examples of 4x4 vertical/coli setups anywhere? I have been searching for 600 watt vertical but maybe I need to search for the size of the cabinet I am wanting to replicate or get an idea from.

I am looking for something that allows for soil. I would assume in a coli setup each "shelf" would be slanted to allow for draining and odds are run a tube to the next below it and so on. To allow for water to drain to the bottom. Or thats what I want to get setup for it lol.. Sounds simple and easier than trying to pull anything out for watering.

I was going to set a grate under the pots so that the overflow water drains below the pots and doesn't seep back into them. Better drainage I would think.

I am going to try and draw up a couple ideas and will post them up as well. You can critique as needed.

Also would octagon outperform a square setup?

If you do a soil coliseum setup a pump with drip lines so you don't have to hand water. I would also run 2 lights stacked on top of each other if you have much height to cover. Try searching for coliseum grows.

I have decided to have my next one setup as follows and will be posted in a grow journal in the vertical grow section.

27 plants total of the following crosses
white kong x white kong
white kong x super lemon haze
white kong x romulan
white kong x purple romulan
white kong x 1776

It will be in a 4x4x6.5 tent with a single 600w light in the middle with 3 shelves on the left/back/right with 3 rows of 3. Going to be flowering them in 3 gallon square pots in fox farms ocean forest/perlite/dolomite lime using fox farms soil nutes and molasses.

After this cycle I will then add an additional 600 in their and see yield wise if using 1200 in one tent is better than setting up 2 600w vertical tents. Never hurts to test it out.

My thoughts on perpetual wise. I can work with the 3 shelving units of 3 levels. Maybe putting in 9 girls a month give or take will allow me to pull meds on a regular basis as long as I keep vegging new clones and tossing them back into any empty spots.

My idea is to be able to be able to fill one of twenty seven possible spots in the tent at any time to allow for many strains, many veg height tests and so forth.

If I decide to go with two tents then I will simply do 15 in one tent and 15 in the other since that is my plant limit.

I will get pics setup once I get the vert light and shelves setup. I already have the shelves and was sitting and smoking looking at them thinking man that would work SO might as well give it a shot.

Thank you guys for the suggestions indeed. I feel I need to try the vert game for awhile and see how it plays out for me.

Firstly, I think you waste your time w/ less than a 1000 watt setup. Also, the developement of the "turbo Blue" bulb lends BOTH the light of the high pressure sodium and the metal halide to get the benefit of early vegging and later flowering. This prevents the need to switch bulbs during the final stage...GO TO:-www.sunlightsupplysystems.com
It is a good place to get a feel for what is now available. I looked for a long time and this is where I recommend you start out.
grow on, Bro!

Oh yeah, the average 1000 watter will let you grow an average of a 7X7 areal. Unless you install a trak to move the light, an 8X8 can be used to comfortably grow 30 to 32 plants, depending on the girth of the breed. For instance, only five rows of five for a breed like the Whte Shark and Blue Berry.
