Amsterdam...2010?
So me and my buddy were pretty much highed up and decided it would be an amazing idea to go to Amsterdam, for him it would be his first and mine the second. Last time i went was april 2007, so a lot has changed in that short period i hear..
first question.. when does the govt in holland/amsterdam plan on making cannabis sales something residents only can purchase? i heard this was going to be going through as law. second.. i know you are allowed to take firearms on planes, but only in checked luggage. does anyone happen to know the legalities of concealed carry in amsterdam? the ONLY reason i ask is because i was put in some very akward positions over there from only the blacks (this is not a racist statement, its simply denoting the race of the people who attempt to do the upcoming thing), and i was warned about it before i went...apparently what they do (mostly immigrants) follow you (tourists) and say/whisper things like "psst....charlie" or "charlie charlie" or "psstt...buy some coke"....basically "drug dealers" proposition you frequently. i was caught many a time walking back to my hotel by myself and propositioned from multiple dudes and at times i was purposely bumped into by groups of these immigrants...and one i think made a comment about "getting me" or something along those lines. i also met a friend who was robbed the previous year, as they caught him in an alley after sundown. for an american, it being pitch black on some streets, 3 am...nobody around...and you have your passport on you...can be scary! now i hear from the locals this isnt a "big problem"....and its only in certain areas (primarily the RLD, where i stayed) and if you get on the outskirts, you dont have the problem "as much". question is, due to my previous experience, considered bringing my firearm...now im sure i can get it there, but the question is...does anyone know the law over there for a US citizen to bring a firearm into their country (given with proper us documentation/licenses)...i PROBABLY won't even take it if i go. just would like to know for reference purposes and can anyone maybe give me a good place to go for good hash over there? i got some but apparently it wasnt TOO great..anyway.. any of you who have been there chime in, oh! also...places to get good food! |

Are you for real?
Bring the firearm but be sure to tell customs. They are keen to fill the country with Armed invaders, it makes them feel safe. lol |

If you dont mind me saying so, bringing a firearm to any european country is stupid. I know some states in the US have the same "gun-laws" as some third world countries but being civil in europe also means not running around with a loaded gun. If you have problems with being mugged go to the police. The last thing we need in Europe is cowboys running around shooting in "self defense".
Just like in any other big city there are places you go at night and there are places you DONT go. Street dealers dont mug you, they just annoy you... Your trip will probably only get better if you dont all the time have to be aware of where your gun is so you are ready. Besides if anyone see you carry a gun, they will take it as you are the mugger/gangster/psycho...just leave it dude...and have a nice trip...

wow, talk about some people flying off the handle...
A) have a gun put to your head and be seconds from dying, then come and try to call someone a "cowboy". i was almost killed before, very close to the 6th homicide in May 2006 in my city. i have every right to consider the options i have for protection, not to mention i was partially threatened by these "Street dealers" and someone i knew WAS robbed. B) it was a question. again i PROBABLY wont take it, but i'm debating it back and forth. i probably won't because its more of a hassle to worry about it in my luggage and/or carrying it. enough about the gun thing. what about hash? where are the best places for that? how about food?

bringing a gun to amsterdam is "flying of the handle"...
"Getting almost killed" isnt something that happens on a normal scale in Amsterdam. Your best defense is keeping away from certain parts of Amsterdam. If you have to pull a gun it almost certainly already went wrong... I really cant see why you are in need of a gun more than the thousands that goes to Amsterdam each year and they dont get killed... ![]() Sorry, but running around with guns isnt something to be taken lightly hence my comments... :-)

second, no, taking a weapon for personal protection is NOT "off the handle" in any fashion in today's world...i don't give a fuck if it's amsterdam or thailand, or whatever country people are crazy! yea "statistics" show low incidents yes, but again for you to say CONSIDERING taking a weapon is flying off the handle...brother you are a hermit and have no idea what's going on in the world |

Guys alot of places in the USA is dangerous.......alot of people carry guns everyday and there not all cowboys lol......it's just common in the US for alot of people to carry small caliber hand guns for safety. I know KMk it would make you feel alot better to carry but I wouldn't carry outside of the US.......like somebody said you don't wanna shot some piece of street trash. Besides if your going with a friend this time it should be safer with 2 people rather than you by yourself..........I carry a small hand gun in my vehicle for safety as do alot of Americans......but that doesn't mean we go shootin before we think. My gun has been under my seat probably 10 years and I've never needed it but I like to know I got it if needed. KMK leave the gun home and you and your friend watch each others back and enjoy yourselves man.
I don't think it's off the handle to consider carry a small firearm.......but I'd leave it home and watch each others back and have a good time......besides if you had to shot somebody out of the country it's hard to say what kinda shit you'd get it.....I can't beleive how some of these guys over react.......he didn't say that he's taking a AR15 to the dam.....he's just concerned about his safety and I don't blame him. But like someone said just call a cop if the street trash gets out of hand |

c'mon guys be nice! ^
everyone has good intentions, one guy is used to america, and one guy isn't too fond of guns.. I went there alone, and I was pretty young, baby face too I know about the blacks your talking about (Brown and Black) try not to make eye contact, that's the trick I learned p.s. if your thinking of buying drugs from them, your gonna get robbed/beaten/sold crap there are also some crackheads roaming first night I arrived I was looking for a room, crackhead came up to me, WHATSUP? only that time, I looked at him, was wondering .... whatsup ? other then that , OH like 9 guys ran after me at the bus station, so I know what's up..... run boy run!! I ran to the shawarma (falafel) shop, and when they saw the crowd, they just stood there lol, fuckers.... then they waited for me at a bridge, but I thrusted my instincts, and found another way around, I then spent the rest of my time, in another building... fucked up man, to live things like that \\ I carried my passport in my sock... in my shoe... there are also some passport/money carrying pouches you strap on to your leg, or you put under your pants... check into that |
