i have a closetthats about 2' x 2.3' x 5.3' and wanted to grow lowlife auto ak47 and short stuff automatic Russian rocket fuel.the ak is taller and only supposed to get about 24 in. max. i was thinking about puttin a shelf in and splitting it into 2 chambers about 2.6' tall. i wanted 5-12 plants per shelf. would 150w hid be enough or should i go for 250w hid or cfls? what would be the best set up? this is my first grow. any help would be greatly appreciated

In general the more light the better, in a cab you need to consider the temp's and may be limited to cfl's if you can't vent the heat a HID will emit, you will have to decide.
I wouldn't split the cab, 5'3" sounds about enough height for a 2' plant, it's pot, your lamp/shade and space between tops and bulb.

ive decided that i am going to spilt it but on the top just big enough to veg until they sex

good idea. and for you lighting,, you have a little of over 4 sq ft. of space,, so doing that math ,, 150 watt HPS produces around 15,000 lumens of light giving you around 3750 lumesn per sq ft.. this is enough for good growth,, check out the 150 watt club here on IC. you will learn a lot in there and might help you with your design. Regular seeds have around a 50/50 male/female ratio so make sure you plant enough to get the number of females you want. Also, in that space you can use 5.5 x 5.5 inch sqare soil pots and put 16 in there. You can put 8 of those pots in a 10 x 20inch and have 2 trays in there to keep things very clean,, buying good female seeds would make this a lot easier to do.

im currently growing russian rocket fuel, they are nice plants but 1 thing i will say is they do seem to have a high male to female ratio so account for this when you are germinating. you will enjoy growing these though

thanks ICC and lowrdr. i was thinking of using smaller pots but i heard that afs need atleast 5 liters to grow good
