Vertical Scrog with Aerofalls Vertical Aeroponic 12 Plant System
Hello fellow ICmaggers,
Was playing around on ebay today and got an idea for my next grow. I am a loyal soil soldier but I would really love to try a small hydro setup just for kicks. This is what I was thinking. So This could be done in a really compact grow, but there are larger versions of this available. It is a Aerofalls Vertical Aeroponic Gardening System. It is pretty much a waterfall like hydro system that recirculates. But if any of you are familiar with Rainman, who I respect highly, his 8 foot of catpiss setup. I was thinking to downscale that largly and just have a Vertical Scrog set beside this system with a vertical free hanging light or cooltube. I doubt seriously that this system would hold 21 plants, I would think 14, spaced out, with a helacious support system and this might could work. (pictured is the 12 plant bc i was high and downloaded and drew on the wrong pic) I feel the best way to learn to to just put this out there and maybe I can do a forum designed build simply based on peoples input, however, regrettably I couldnt share the benefits. Anyway, please feel free to comment on this anyway you like, submit your ideas, build your own, diy ideas, I am open to anything. Below is pictures of the hydro setup. There is also a link to the company's channel on you tube, they have some interesting videos. https://www.youtube.com/user/Aerofalls Provides 3 1/2sq. ft. of vertical growth space in slightly over 1/2 sq. ft. of floor space and weighs only 14 lbs empty. While the core design of AeroFalls™ is protected by a patent pending, the system was conceived as an open platform for broad based growth and support. You are not locked in, you're free to create, grow, modify and improve. They control the horizontal, but with AeroFalls™ you control the vertical aeroponic system. Features 12 2" net pot ports, on a 16.5" X 30 " growth panel. AeroFalls™ gardens are designed from the ground up to be cleanable, replenishable, sustainable, reuseable, recyclable. Measures 35.5" high X 24" wide X 5" thick at base with 1" standard hose fitting drain in front. Includes 12 - 2" net cups, enough rock wool cubes to fill them. I would think to run 600 or 1000 vertical system, or two 400 cooltubes linked, i don't know, really interested to hear everyone's thoughts

this is kind of my shiteous drawing of what i am thinking in my head. Really though, I think this could really work.
Or am I just being ignorant?

That's a neat idea. I've seen the same thing called edible walls, using tomatoes, squash, peppers, and lettuce set up at Urban grow in NYC. Yields were impressive w/ that small of a space. Would love to see a pot grow in one.

The concept looks solid. You were going to place 4 of those around the center lights?
The only concern i have is the aero method & the unit functioning itself. I'm personally jaded towards products of the like as feel they never, ever perform as advertised. Again, jaded. After every one that i've tried (not the af) & seen elsewhere, felt could've done a much better job modifying and/or making myself from scratch. This is what i've done for a few years now. If i see something of interest, try to understand it the best i can & then build it myself after trying to anticipate problems. Kinda a manuf background & like to be hands on... see improvement possibilities in most everything... Just a caveat to "new" technologies and/or toys. BTW, if wanted to tinker & slowly enter into hydro, would think the aero to be the most problematic foray one could choose. I'm perfectly capable to admit that I couldn't dial it in & eventually moved away from it. So many other options available... so much easier & so very bountiful. Peace brother!

I agree the concept is good, the you tube video says its aeroponic yet it seems more like vertical nft to me with the constant trickle of water.
Either way, it looks like a low maintenance and productive system. |
