Tour de France Stoner Thread 2009
Ok
All fans of Lance---he is .22 seconds down from wearing yellow again after four years. Who watches? Who is addicted like me? and finally, who thinks Bob Roll puffs? peace jip

Its a Summer time tradition...been addicted for a few years. It was a hell of a lot cooler when I was in college and kicked it all morning smoking, but still pretty sweet checking the reply after work. And we have it in HD this year...makes me miss France!

Thor Hushovd takes the stage today.
Tomorrow we will see who has the power to win the Tour. Whoever finishes the stage first for Astana tomorrow will win the Tour. peace jip

I feel sorry for David Millar since he put his heart and soul into it a couple of days ago. Yes, he doped back in the day but he has been clean and had it not been for the wide open boulevards of Barcelona he would have had a win in the bag.
I have been watching every day online since the south of england is switching over to digital and i cant get channel 4 anymore. I do not think lance can win this year unless he is trying to pull of one of the biggest bluffs i have ever seen. Contador took off like a rocket today and caught everybody watching so that shows his form. One of the bigger surpises for me was seing cadel and wiggins take off like that as i have not known them to be a big climbers. Wiggins is a pursuit champion mind you and surprised the hell out of me seeing him in the main bunch. For those that do not know steephill i suggest you look. When the video feed goes down i usually switch over to the Eurosport audio feed as this never gets interrupted. I have been listening to the tour online since before the millennium and have enjoyed it every year without interruption and the only difference these days is the addition of live video that is on the spot and on demand. The french must be happy since they have not had too many heroes for quite some time. The last guy to seriously make headlines in france must have been either cristophe moreau or richard vironque with their wins. Most of us will know the festina affair with ryckert and the drugs so the publicity that richard provided was not the best for france especially since they choose to continually attack lance and his record on teh matter. But overall i am happy for france since they need heroes just as well as any sporting nation. Every year i go nuts during july when the tour is on and i, sadly, put on a few pounds sitting on my ass watching the TV as opposed to getting my ass out on the bike. I ride a road bike and always have. I use this wonderful instrument for transportation since i do not need, nor want, a car. The sad thing is i may have to deal with a case of Lyme disease soon and the following drug treatments to combat this. It pisses me off that i have to stroll through the woods and get this shitty disease. The rash i have is consistent with lyme and am waiting on blood tests to confirm so they can start prescribing the appropriate drugs to combat this shit. So how many of you think Cavendish can pull off the green jersey this year? |

don't wait on blood test get on a course of anitbiotics right away.
I believe Cavendish will win the green he is way too strong I also take back what I said. The Alps will decide things. peace jip

Cav might have to start contesting a few inter sprints for points if he wants to contest the green jersey. He might have been a bit tired that day hushovd won and it was an uphill spring which he said did not suit him. Nonetheless he is out of the green for now with 2 or 3 flats coming up before the alps.
I have this seriously sneaky suspicion that lance is playing dumb and waiting to strike. He is well within striking distance of contador and i would never rule him out of the race. When lance's time gaps are more significant than the 6 or so seconds it is now pegged at then i might change my mind. The alps will have a deciding factor this year. Poor Jens Voigt was climbing his ass off. That guy is an animal. Have you guys seen the CSC documentary called Overcoming? |

Guys I think Lance is kinda laying back and letting Contrador wear himself down......notice a few stages ago when Contador ran off from Lance at the end of the stage and Lance didn't strike back......I think Lance will make a move in the Alps I don't see him playing 2nd fiddle to his teamate Contador. Lance has won 7 of these tours and is very very smart about what he needs to do and when.........He's been down more than 8 seconds in the past and blasted everybody through the Alps.......I know he's older and hasn't ran in 3 years(in the tour) but it's impossible for me to think Lance doesn't have something left..............Sidenote.... .Man all these guys are super athletes just think how many days riding without a break......I noticed a stage went almost 6 hrs lol.......I really don't see how these guys do this without steriods or something......it's just amazing that after a 5 hour climb in the mtns that these guys can get up the next morning and do it again
