High!
We have been very fortunate to get so much excellent feedback from the cannabis community on their Mandala gardens and would like to share this simple yet successful Kalichakra grow with everyone at ICMag Forum! Many thanks to Tuphil (grower.de) for his great photo diary and detailed infos. He is probably busy harvesting his third stash right now! OK, so here are the tech details first: 4 fluorescent tubes for grow 400 W Sylvana for bloom 0.5 m2 grow box for veg 1.1 m2 room for flowering Ferts: Bio Grow and Bio Bloom from Bio Bizz (very recommendable by the way) pH of water: 6,5 Soil: quality potting soil Pots: standard flower trays for clones 20 Liter (4 gallon) pot for mother plant There are a lot of photos in this diary, so I am going to try to organise it in such a way that you can follow it step by step... even while you smoke a bowl... If you do lose your way... chill a bit... you will get back to the plot eventually.

Here we have the mom with nicely developed side shoots that were tied down a bit to spread out her structure for optimum light absorption (there was only one sodium vapour lamp for the entire grow).
You can see a good close up of the thick and sturdy stems that are typical of all our strains. This is an important trait for quality cuttings, outdoor endurance, and holding those heavy flowering tops later on. In all 14 cuttings were taken from the mom. The are happily rooting in the small greenhouse. On the right hand side the grower decided to keep two particularly thick top shoots as new mother plants. A smart choice!

The mother was put into flowering on the 5th Jan without any rest period or larger pot. Usually itīs better to give the mother a chance to recuperate from pruning and reveg a bit. A larger pot with fresh soil replenishes the old substrate that is depleted from all nitrogen by this time. The grower decided however to go straight into flowering with his plant. After one week the first flowers appeared on the pruned shoots.
In the meantime the cuttings had rooted and stayed unter the tubes for approx. 2+ weeks before being transplanted into these two flowering trays on the 31.01. which also started their flowering period. The mother plant was going strong but the first signs of N deficiency turned up on the lower leaf canopy. A cutting on the 13.02. - almost two weeks since transplantation and 12/12.

Itīs now well into 55 days flowering for the mother plant and the resiny buds are expanding in size daily! I recommended to the grower to take it easy on the dosage for Bio Bloom (he was adding it to each watering). Tuphil was trying to revert the yellowing of the fan leaves but this is, as I said, a natural reaction to the deplenished substrate. At this late stage the plant is not able to absorb and utilize large amounts of nitrogen so the symptoms continued - but without affecting the flower power. Itīs always better to use low dosages during flowering with Mandala strains because they do not need high salt levels to bring out top results. Tuphil decided to cut down on the Bio Bloom (just adding it weekly at lowest dosage: 20ml/L) and this was rewarded with a continuous flow of fresh calyxes on the big colas!
Her little sistas, the cuttings, have grown into good looking mature plants with one main flowering cola. Kalichakra is an ideal sativa for SOG or SCROG as one can see. In the last photo we have a nice birds eye view of the room. I think the grower was hanging on to something on the ceiling to take this pic! Stay tuned - the best is yet to come...

Here we go...
We are into day 30 for the cuttings by the way. On this close-up you can see the difference from 9 days ago! 28. Feb: Just 6 days later... the room is beginning to fill with the aromatic bouquet of the Kalichakra buds. At 5 weeks the resin glands are already covering the top fan leaves on the cuttings. Itīs day 60 now for the Kalichakra mom - just another 10 days or so and the harvest scissors are ready to be sharpened.

10. March: The countdown has begun. Everything is being prepared for a great harvest. The Kalichakra mom is going to be removed from the flowering room and we will see her for the first time in her full splendour (and under some better lighting). Meanwhile her siblings are not going to be outdone and are showing off their own bud power.

12. March: A Gardeners Delight
Tuphilīs mature Kalichakra had an impressive mass of flowering peaks to show off! This lady has definately responded well to being pruned as each and every side shoot has been transformed into a single cola plant! The plant is placed into a closet for another day while other work had to be attended to. Manicuring was childīs play. As one can see from the photos it was a cut and dry operation without any messy and tedious work. In the end just the "bones" left over ... I love this pic and these chunky, deluxe, sativa buds. Thatīs what I call easy growing from start to finish! Coming up next... what are the little sistas up to? And can you guess what the yield was in dry weight from mommy Kalichakra?

Now we move on to the second part of the grow: 12 cuttings are celebrating day 54 in flowering... can you still recognize them? These are no girls on a diet. This is the point where some impatient growers will already be looming in the shadows with their harvest gear and grinder at hand...

One week later... day 61
the girls are only getting water from now on - Bio Bloom has done itīs job and the rest is up to nature. Judging from the photos I would say the plants can be harvested from now on till the next 4 days, but for some reason the grower was intent on keeping them for a total of 72-75 days... maybe because they look so pretty
