Cucumber fucking beetles

ah man, I just got back from a trip to find my squashes got invaded by striped cucumber beetles. I have never dealt with them since making the switch to organic. Anyone have any experience?

Never had experience with them but you can organically control them a few different ways. Rotenone and pyrethrins will work.
I was actually hoping to see some wild kinky shit. I've never seen a cuke fucking a beetle was so hoping to finally cross that fetish off my list.

they come in striped too? i've only seen the orange spotted ones.

neem
pyrethrin

mechanical control
and by that i mean squishing every one you find

the japanese beetles havent invaded here yet. those are the bane of my existence.

I say cucumber fucking beetles because they won't stop fucking! it's an orgy in my squash blossoms.

and they are doing some pretty good damage pretty quick.

apparently they come in spotted and striped. I did some neem and pyrethrin last night, and it promptly rained. so I think they have special powers.

I am having a problem with my Coralbells and Heliopsis. Brown on the edges of the leaves and curling up. I noticed little webs around on the mulch........I have animals so poison is really something I would like to avoid. I am controlling most insects in a natural way,but this one has me stumped. And why just those two? I have many other plants out there right next to them. What about spraying them with Insecticidal Soap?

sounds like spider mites! soon you'll se little webs on the leaves. the answer is neem oil or neem extract. Foliar, plus drench the roots as it will get taken up.

Neem, rotenone and pyrethrin are all safe for warm blooded animals. Basically all the organic pesticides are safe for warm blooded animals.

rotenone and pyrethrin will kill fish tho.

I noticed something interesting last night. When I started soaking the soil around some younger squash mounds with neem, the beetles started coming out of their hiding spots in the soil and were unable to move quick enough to avoid my finger squishing. Every mound I did, same thing.

Was it the neem? or was it just the water? I don't know, but it was very satisfying! Very exciting, too. Could it be a heavy soil soaking of neem in the early evening, followed immediately by pyrethrins or rotenone could be a great way to control cucumber beetles? The neem draws them out and shuts down the grubs, while the pyrethrin kills the beetles that come out of hiding.
