Saltwater tanks?

Anybody have 'em? I have a 120gal reef system, but just downsized to a 40gal display.

I do too,but unfortunatly we had a 3hr power outage and it caused too much stress and they developed some fungal infection kinda like rotting flesh,so my cleaner shrimp decided to snack on there tail and that was the begening of the end for them.
I'm only gonna do sps for now on,well a few inverts.
Do you have pictures of your set up?is it fish only,reef or a mix(light coral load)

My best advice that i can give you is read,read and read before you even buy a tank.They are expensive and do need lots of attention,they are not plug and play like freshwater systems.Take it from experiance,when i first set up my first tank,within a year i lost over 1000.00$ in fish,corals and sea anemonees.What i mean is it take time.

There are alot of saltwater/reef forums out there,they are a good place to edducate your self.
I'm a member of;
Canreef
Saskreef
these are only two there is much more outhere.If you do start one be PATIENT and save your money Lol.

Sweet Pics!
I have 120g total volume. Just broke the 65 down to redo the floors and wound up downsizing to a 40 breeder. Mostly LPS/SPS, polyps, 2 clams, and 4 fish. I have about 80# of live rock, most of it in a big poly barrel that doubles as my sump. Must have for a reef system, IME, is a really good protien skimmer, a quality light (IMO, halide or T5), ro/di water, auto topoff and auto dosing reef systems are pretty easy. Fish only systems are even easier and much cheaper.
Here's some of mine...

I definetly agree with frenchmen about finding a local or national reef forum, awesome info and cool people. Finding good books can be hard too, there's a ton of junky and outdated info out there. For authors I like Calfo, Sprung, Delbeek and Borneman. Husbandry is a must but I found it than easier than freshwater.

I love the hobby and find there's alot of common ground between horticulure and aquaculture.

Sweet pictures,I've just upgraded my lighting system,4x24" t-5Ho on top of a 26gallon tank and will go with only sps,shrimps green chromis(just for movement)blennie scooter and thats about it,i will not be running a skimmer so i wanna keep the bio-load as light as possible.
Reef tanks are a good way to space out after enjoying a nice fat ...well you know
