LR2 Gen2 grow

I seeded an LR2 plant about a month ago and am now going to try to grow some of those seeds. I started off with about eleven seeds this time, hoping about half would germinate, since some of the seeds were just a little green.

After about 24 hours, 4 popped. And another 24 hours later one more popped. I germ in paper towels, and once sprouted, I move them to Jiffy pucks. I have them under a 100w CFL flouro for now, and will turn on the 150w hps after a few days, once the plants look strong enough.

Just a quick udate.. After 3 days I had 8 out of 11 seeds pop. The other 3 seeds must be too green and immature to grow. I am happy with 8 since the seeds cost me nothing this time around.

My plan is to move these into 1 and 2 gallon pots in a week and get them under the HPS. I'm using fox farms soils, specifically light warrior and ocean forest, mixed with perlite and worm castings. I will plant the jiffy plugs directly into the pots that the plants will finish in.

I spray a mist of water on the inside of the tray lid twice a day. Under the light with the lid on, the jiffy puck tray is like a rainforest inside there.

it was 6/9/09 when I placed the seeds onto the paper towel, and 5 days later this is where we're at.

Day 5

Day 5

The plants are looking good.. A few of them had the seed husk/shell stuck on them, but I was able to get them off of a couple plants. There is one that is just 'f'd lol .. I hope that in a few days the shell will come off of it. Here's a day 5 pic.

Right on brother, it will be interesting to see how your plants (with full sun exposure) differ from mine. I'm sure they'll be kick-ass, I only hope my grow can try to compare..
I like to let my plants fully ripen, about 40% to 60% amber trichs, so whenever that happens I'll cut 'em.
..looking forward to a little finger hash:)

My plants are growing pretty fast in those jiffy cubes. a couple of them are bent from being up-against the roof of the jiffy tray, so I am moving those plants to pots. I can see the roots coming out of those jiffy pucks as well, so I want to get those in pots anyways. I'm going to do that in just a little while, and will take a couple of pictures to post when done as well.

Ok, as promised. Here are the pics of the jiffy plugs being potted. I only did the 4 with the largest root systems, and will do the other 4 tomorrow. I think I may have wet the soil I used too much, before planting. I hope it doesn't affect the plants negatively.

I'm starting to think I'm only going to get 7 plants. The one plant still hasn't shaken the seed husk yet lol.. poor little bastard,, I've taken the husks off before. It can be a delicate operation, and that's on plants whose husks are partially off! Looking at this one, I'm thinking I'm going to wait a bit longer and see what happens..

Anyways, thanks for taking the time to check out my grow, here's some pics..

Day 8 from seed

Day 8 from seed

I finished potting the other 4 plants. I started thinking about the plant that still had the seed husk stuck on it. I decided that if that husk didn't come off soon, the plant would die. I figured the chance of survival for the plant was better if I removed the husk, especially at 8 days now. So I did... We'll see if it survives or not.. Right now the odds don't look too good, but who knows.. The plant's leaves are all bunched up in the shape of the seed husk. The husk came off cleanly, and easier than I first thought it would.

If anyone's following along, that plant that had the seed hull/husk stuck on it.. well the 2 water leaves are seperating, but I can't see any other leaves in there yet. I'm thinking the odds are pretty good it's going to 'select' for male, but I'm going to let it grow and show before I kill it, if I have to, if it even survives that long.. I'm rambling...

Anyways, thanks for looking. Here's a couple of pics..

I just looked at your's, and it's looking pretty good. These seeds are actually seeds from a flower I pollinated which was originally from JD's LR2.. which is some damn good stuff in my opinion.. :)

Day 11

Day 11

I've got them under the 150w HPS now, and they seem to be doing good. 7 of the plants look really good, but the one that had the seed husk problem looks pitiful. Since It's no extra effort to keep it growing, I'm going to just let the plant ride, and see what happens..

Here are some pics from today, they were taken under the HPS... the middle pic is of the runt.
