How is this done, I've looked at many photographs, but can't tell exactly.

You choose a diameter, wrap the cage in a circle and what holds it in that shape?

Also, does the cage just stand on it's own? I can't tell if people are securing it the floor or ceiling of their rooms somehow.

This is the last piece to the puzzle for my 2 x 600w vertical setup that just went into flowering last night.
