breeding Blue Streak...
Madanzig, I am no hot shot at selecting plants...I am consigned to outdoor growing, but I try anyway. My question:
Would Blue Streak more or less breed out true if I come up with a decent looking male in the pack I just germed? Thanks in advance... |

If by true, you mean will the offspring of a male and female be fully autoflowering?
Yes. |

That would be good, as in the north central US we need a hedge against disaster...I guess I am wondering if the range of phenos would be true.
As an example, I bred guerilla gold two years ago, and while the pack I got from greenz and mr. Clone was consistent, the subsequent generation was strangely different. Things are hard to predict outside, but I was careful with my pollen. Maybe someone can help me understand the difference between stable and unstable hybrids. |

Well inbreeding can have issues, from a small gene pool. As well as a slight tendency for the proceeding generations to adapt genetically to their new environment. But that takes a long time to over power the long history of genetic traits developed in a native area. It would take an afghan a very long time to change it's genetic sequence to be an American Afghani.....thousands of years, but inbreeding can show changes aside from genetic adaptation/mutation...........that is really your issue on hand.

Yes but it could adapt in 30 years to American enviroment.

i grew master low out and they all have autoflowered. though there is a much higher range of random phenos. for instance i have had several plants that took about 2 weeks longer to flower and while they did autoflower got very tall. i have also had super micro plants that just never got any larger. lots of stuff inbetween. not that big of a deal usualy its only 1 or 2 and can be picked out in first couple of weeks of growing. but its a much higher rate then the auto flowering seeds i have bought.
i figure its from taking 20 plants and picking the best to breed and from a breeder taking sometimes dozens or hundreds and breeding consistantly for generations. 1 grow with limited genetics can also magnify problems etc. none the less it will auto flower if thats the original question. from my experience anyway. |

Like is stated in my other post, NW GanjaFarmer, you are working with what we call a genetic bottleneck breeding experiment. Give it time and you'll soon have it all dialed in. It's what we did with corn.

Funny how you use corn as an example... i do all the time most people don't realize how far that plant has come with our help. i agree though its just a matter of getting it dialed in. i don't seem to be able to find your other post on the subject though. would love to read it. planing on doing 2 more grows for seed myself this winter. both will likely deal with AF strains.

only 2 of my seeds look like those! The others were small and darker! What the hell, I am going to start 2 more righ now. The one little plant I have is doing alright but no telling what sex it is??? When I pollinate and make my own seeds I hope to get seeds like those!
