Halco PureLite bulbs?
Hey everyone, I'm plannin my first grow space and unfortunately i don't really have the funds to buy a 400W HPS like I want. What I DO have is a few 60 Watt Halco PureLite's sitting around. They say on th box that they can be used for plant growth. My question is, does anyone have any experience with these bulbs and growing? Thanks

Those halco bulbs are 60 watt incandescents, they won't be very effective for growing. You should try some compact fluorescents....They are good for a tight budget, no ballast needed, fits standard sockets and are energy efficient.
Just mount a few together and VOILA!!!! instant grow light -Peace-

Well if its just like brownpants said that they are incandescent..they really shouldn't be use..and definitely compact fluoro works..but I would only recommend it during veg..unless you have a lot of watts for flowering in red spectrum..
Also if they are incandescents..they don't last long at all and produce a lot of heat..so you shouldn't use it..but you can try it..probably only for propagation and seedling grow..but that is a big maybe.

Those would work great, except you would also need a special ballast and socket to fire up that bulb. The ballast is more expensive than the bulb. You can get a HPS light kit off ebay for around $200. You would probably need a reflector and some good ventilation as well.

Check https://www.insidesun.com/index.php?a...ry&id=specials for some cheap offerings on HPS's.
It's not the only way to grow though. HPS's generate a lot of heat. If you got a big space, go for a 430w HPS, and if you don't and/or don't want to spend a lot to the ventilation, get a 250w HPS. Hope this helps
