Animals eating my plant
Well I transplanted my plant outdoors when it was only the cotyledon and starting to sprout the first set of leaves. I didn't have any fishing line when I put it in the ground and now some animal (most likley deer) has eaten the leaves but the stem is still there. Will it keep growing or would it be too much shock in this early stage. The root system is actaully pretty strong for this early so I'm hoping it will start to grow again. So can anyone give me an answer if it will start growing again because now I have fishing line around the spot.
Luckly it doesn't matter if this one doesn't grow because its only bagseed, and also only an experimental spot. Thanks. |

It's prolly toast now - if no leaves survived. For future reference tho - collect and save your hair cuttings when ya get it cut - sprinkle it around the perimeter of the grow - animals won't cross the line, something about human hair keeps them at bay. Old Indian trick passed down from granpa and used for all of our veg and fruit gardens.

I am thinking it might have been slugs...
They like young plants and tend to eat just the leaves....You should see what they did to my young cucumber plants... -Peace-

Yeah chucks idea sounds good. seems like slugs could do it. But if you really want to be safe you shouldn't use your hair because of dna. just trying to make you cover some of the risks of being caught.

Yea I think I'll go with the preditor piss because I think we have some in our shed. It could be slugs because its right next to a swamp, but I cut out a 2 liter bottle (top and bottom) and put it around the plant to try to keep things like that out. Think slugs could get over it it was probably about 6 inches high. I also noticed on further inspection that the leaves were actaully on the ground next to the plant half eaten
Ah well at least this isn't my good spot and now I'll know what I have to do for my other plants once their started. Unfortunatley its already may 24th and I haven't even ordered my seeds yet . Damn no job and having to buy weed. Ahh well looks like some small plants.Does anyone know where I could get clones in the New England area? I'd much rather have a larger plant despite my late start and not have to pick out the males when I can only visit the grow ever so often. PM me if anyone could help me out thanks.

Your own piss works well too. Human classifies as a predator. :P, Most animal will not aproach an area where they smell human urine.

Predator piss worked great for me in the past.
I used the concentrated coyote piss. Kept all the little furry bastards away from my patch. My own urine has worked to some extent as well, but not as effectively. Human feces works like a charm too. I've been known to drop draws near my patch more than a few times throughout the season. Gotta do what ya gotta do, ya know! Now, if they could only come up with something to repell the damn hunters!!!!!

Well... , That is one way to protect your plants.....But, I would feel kind of bad for the troop of girl scouts that wandered through on a nature hike.
