pheno types

i keep hearing peeps say they they have 2 different phenotypes when they grow from seed. if there new strain is producing two different types doesnt that mean they havent been crossed properley in the first place

uh..

there are two different sexes,

unless you count the hermies as a third type.

as far as how many phenos:

it depends on how "true breeding" the cross is. some seeds might have two phenos, most polyhybrids will probably have 16, but the possibilities for recombination are vast.

I think it depends of how it's touted. For example, If I recieved some seeds of a plant that's put out as a true breeded or one konw for it and I get lots of different phenos I might get a little testy.

However, there are some seeds out there, such as BOG's SC99 that have two big phenos. Seeing the two phenos in this bean doesn't tweak me out as BOG himself is more than open about it. Hell, he incourages you to try them and take a mum off your favorite kind. I guess honesty does make a difference after all.

Actually, when you think about it, there's alot of work just getting a plant down to only two major variations.

hey bro, dont matter what seed ya buy, f1, IBL, or polyhybred......there all gonna have different phenos. if you grow out ten beans and get 2 phenos, id say those are pretty stable beans.

try not to get overly concerned over phenos. I really do prefer f2s and oger crosses.....as this is where you will find the largest variation in a population and the best chance to find the real keeper, then again they are cheaper

genotype + environment → phenotype

The phenotype is composed of traits or characteristics [3]. Some phenotypes are controlled entirely by the individual's genes. Others are controlled by genes but are significantly affected by extragenetic or environmental factors. Almost all humans inherit the capacity to speak and understand language, but which language they learn is entirely an environmental matter.

phenom expression could be one plant is more sativa then indaca. or one smells stronger or one has more crystal production. it might be the same plant that grows one way in my grow tent might grow different in your grow environment.

children of the same parents look different right? you have a brother or sister? do they look like you? parental genes mix differently so while you may look like your brother you ay be a lil taller or shorter or fatter or thiner. phenotypes are the same way. i think if im wrong and that more describes genotype please correct me.
