Clone Cut Sterilization?? - General Gardening - International Cannagraphic Magazine Forums

Greetings,

I've read people discard each blade after using to cut a single clone. I've also read to dip the blade in Ethanol. Discarding a blade after one use seems absurd. (I'm a bit more conservative)
The closest/easiest thing to get here is "Everclear" which is 95% Alcohol (ethanol) (190Proof).

I suppose I can get a bottle of that and dip my blade in it and then I guess dip it in water to wash the alcohol off (If needed??)

Unless someone else has a better sterilization technique??

i steralize mine in boiling water works ok for me..
ive used the same 1 for the last 2yrs.

What if you where taking 50 plus clones. Boiling water would work, but wouldn't a dipping solution be more practical??

true solution would be more practical. are you on about cleaning
after every cut.or just the one time.

Like the first post states, either form is for a single cut.

I like to sterilize the blade before cutting on each plant, not each cut. Rubbing alcohol is great for this.

Just realized my stoned typing might have been confusing. I sterilize the blade before I cut each individual plant. If I get a few dozen cuttings I still will have only sterilized the blade once. When I move on to another plant I will then sterilize it again to prevent spreading disease to the moms and the cuts.

nope not denatured alcohol, isopropyl rubbing alcohol that you can find in every drug store and first aid kit. It evaporates fast and is effective and sterilization. Oh and it costs less than $1 a bottle.

i usually cut myself so i save the alcohol to sterilize my wounds.does it really matter ?enter technogeek with side by side baseline comparison of :1 sterilized after each cut,2after each plant,3never,4and lastly rusty shank coverd in garlic oil used on any rippers i catch.
