NEW RULES IN AMSTERDAM?????

Hi im going to the dam on june 1st, people keep telling me "its changed, its not the same as it used to be, you can only smoke in certian areas and whats bought in the shop must be consumed in the shop". ive been 3 times before but last time was 07.

can anyone help me on what has changed? i know there is a smoking ban in shops (cigarettes). a friend went to the can cup and said that not much has changed, only the bigger shops are still running with a lot of smaller ones being closed.

thanks for takin the time to read this, im really after feedback frfom people who have been recently in the last 5 months or so

thanks..

Hi

Smoking tobacco is banned in the "workplace" and so this means that some coffeeshops have built special smoke areas inside their shops to accomodate us . Any coffeeshop that tells you that you can only consume their wares inside or that you must buy wares to sit inside is just trying to rip you off. my best advice is to laugh in their greedy fat faces before walking out the door and on to the next place.

There are a number of tobacco friendly coffeeshops, although I don't live in A'dam so can't tell you which they are. The one I DO know you can smoke in the Kashmir Lounge... most if not all of the shops will allow you to smoke "pure/neat" whilst inside allthesame

Polle Pot will become famous soon enough
Hill Streat Blues near red light have two nice smoke rooms with water view, in the back.

Remember to be kind, and bring used cups and glasses to the bar when you leave, so the employees can avoid the smoking zones as much as possible.

susies Saloon may be missing a chef, i saw him carted off in an ambulance while i was there on saturday, apparently careless use of sharp kitchen knives can hurt.

Oh, as for rules. I was there this weekend and nothing was really new except for the smoking in shops being barred but i did not see if enforced at all and plenty of people were still skinning up with tobacco.

All the changes i saw were normal and should not really affect your smoking experience.

Haven't been to Amsterdam for a while ,, friends over there tell us that main change to coffeeshops has been the bad attitude that many 'workers' and 'owners' have picked up,,, disrespectful,, discourteous,, dishonest, expensive, ignorant towards patrons!

the smoking ban,, reflecting how Amsterdam is loosing it's Dutch Courage... how stupid EU law's will gradually outlaw cannabis smoking in Amsterdam also!

Peace all

ha you don't know the dutch , they defend their rights , in maastricht all coffee/bar owners allow tobacco smoking, they just work together and pay their fines together

They also think the laws are bullshit
