They cost a lot and take a long time to grow. I don't know if any white or black truffle spores are even available, or else they wouldn't be so expensive. Try wikipedia to get information, but other than that I think you're out of luck.

They wouldn't cost so much if they could be cultivated readily. It would be pretty cool if you could grow your own though. Maybe try something like exotic or wild mushrooms. Shitake and oyster mushrooms are easy to grow.

You can buy trees which have grey truffle spores on its roots.
I think you have to wait 10 years or so before you can harvest. |

i'm pretty sure cultivating your own truffles is impossible. from what understand man has been trying for hundreds of years with little to no success. if you want truffles train your dog to find them or even better a pig.

Garland Truffles
I've toured this place a few times, they are great people and do
amazing work. I've been a using truffles for over 20 years in fine dining restaurants and can tell you that these stand up to the best perigord truffles from Europe. He always harvests them fully mature and stinky, the veining is perfect. One more local item to add to your menu too. Link to Garland Truffles. |

yeah truffles are very hard indeed to grow as you need correct tree, and soil content and moisture also....and the fact that they take about 10 years to grow....if you was gonna wait that long better be starting a farm for them

There is a fairly healthy market for white truffle in Oregon (re: Willamette Valley) where they are harvested in the wild..
