My first non-cannabis seedling; is something wrong with it?
My first non-cannabis seedling just sprouted and looks strange. It's of the tomatillo variety. Its hairy as shit and I was thinking it might be some fungus or something.
After just taking pics right now I can definitely see apparent fungus in the soil, but is that whats making the seedling hairy as well?

From the pics, that looks like the seedling's root, exposed there at the top? If so, cover it gently with some soil, and it'll be fine.
If that's not what it is... iunno. -s

Hope your grow goes good. |

Those little hairs are root filaments, that's the end of the tap root, I'd pluck it out of the soil and repot it with the root fully buried.

With that out of the way, does anybody see that fungus looking stuff in the soil? Is that anything to worry about?

dont touch that root. leave it grow. breaking roots is for indoor soil grows where you need to contain root growth, not for tomatillos or other garden plants. breaking the root may just kill it at this point

sorry, indifferent, i mis-read your post. i thought you were refering to cutting the taproot like some people do to encourage feeder root growth in potted MJ... "plucking it" out and re-planting it so its better covered with soil without hurting the little root is a good idea as well as just putting a little dirt on it

Be gentle with covering that root. Had something like that (chiles) and I tried to cover the root and something was wrong and my chile died before it even started to live.
