Growing Dank grass

As the thread title says, I am interesting in growing some dank grass. My yard isnt that bad, however it could be alot nicer.

My buddy says its likely bluegrass already, so I got some Fiscue/Bluegrass mix seed to put down in another week or 2. Anyone have any tips for success? I plan on spread the seed, then gently raking it in and some dirt over it, then watering 2x daily till it starts growing.

Will the new fiscue/bluegrass grow over the other patchs of existing grass? I have also read a fertilizer high in P is used for "starting" lawns... I have a bunch of extra EJ bloom that is 0-2-1 i think. Can i use this for a starting fert? Or are starting ferts not even really needed?

Doesnt appear to be any bad weeds in the yard, I gave it a good raking the other day to get out all the dead debri.

Three things:

1) Spike/plug aerate first...It's opens up the soil and allows for a better root system (something we know a thing or two about a thing or two) Should be done in the Fall, but it will make for a healthier lawn even if done now.

2) Drop spread your seed if at all possible, otherwise the broadcasting method will do

3) Pick up some Scotts Early Spring fertilizer and apply 2 weeks after seeding.

You can get the straight up fert since you have little to no weeds.

I have the same mix of grass on my property.

Tall Fescue/Kentucky Blue.....looks great with that boost of early nitrogen.

Make sure the birds stay away til the seeds germ. Otherwise, you just out out a shitload of bird food. Watch for em, they come early in the morning. And they bring friends.

It's a bitch. And you pretty much have the right idea with the shotgun. This is why most use sod.

All jokes aside. If you can afford it, get sod. Or just keep spreading the seeds through a whole season. Damn birds cant eat all of em.

I have had personal experiences with grass and birds. One of the most frustrating things I have ever dealt with.

Good luck bro, go for sod. You can usually put sod like a checkerboard pattern and wait a year for it to fill out. And use half as much. Looks funny at first but it works.

I think they make coated seeds now that birds dont like. IDK. Do a little research. It might save you tons of frustration.

Put a couple fake owls in a couple trees. That's a predator to birds and they know it
