Growing blueberries from cuttings, what can ya tell me?

I want to grow blueberries organically from cuttings and have a few questions. Firstly, these are cuttings I seen at Lowes that have cute little names like blueray and bluecrop, anyone know if these would have a chance of being genetically modified (GMO)? I read there were 4 major GMO'd crops (soy corn canola cotton) but wanted to make sure that there wasn't GMOs I'm not aware of on the market.

Also, anybody who has experience growing blueberries? They like acidic soil apparently, could I get a little bed of Pro-Mix BX going and plant them in it or am I on the wrong track here?

Remember, todays noobs are tomorrows blueberry kingpins. Halp.

so are you taking cuttings as you browse the isles at lowes?

cut 8 inches of the new growth tips, and make the cut directly beneath a node. cut 1-2 inchesoff the tip, again just above a node. so you have 6" cuts of last years woody growth. scrape a 1/2" strip of bark on either side of the bottom, soak in water(preferably with a few willow sticks in there as well) for up to a week, stick em 3" into a bed of moist promix (make sure the top is up or they wont grow), give em weak light (preferably shade tree sunshine), and keep em warm on cool nights. you may need a humidity dome during warmer days/hours. about june, they should have enuf roots to live in the sun. then in fall/winter next year transplant them to their homes...

rooting woody cuts is a different kinda process than we do with our MJ. its just a waiting game. the shoots will die in an hour if you drop the ball just once, but as long as you keep proper rh and the soil moist, about 50% will root for you

there are easier cuttings you could be learning on for sure...grapes, roses, many shrubs, so good luck

No actually they're cuttings being sold at Lowes, they're in dirt n stuff so I take it they're already rooted. I was just looking for some tips on maintaining the plant and whether or not they were altered genetically.

Thanks for the info though, I'm sure it'll come in use in the future.

I haven't heard of berry crops being GMO yet. From the movie "The Beautiful Truth", they mention that there are only a few seeds that are GMO right now. There's been an 'awakening' that GMO can easily turn a good thing into something that's bad for consumption.

Most of the corn products in food these days is from GMO corn. Needless to say our healthcare industry is staggering under the load of unusual and rampant diseases.

Blueray
BlueCrop
Mmmmmmm Blueberries!

I'm gonna be getting this going soon, would a soil mixture of 2 parts Pro-Mix BX and one part Fox Farm Ocean Forest do? I'm totally new to shrub growing, I want to make sure it has all the nutrient love it needs.

There's what I'll be growing for the record.

Thanks for any help.
