Vertical + hortizontal? quick Q for you vertical veterans!!
Ok so here's the lowdown. I've been growing now for about 8 months, perpetually. Recently i have leased a larger area to grow in.
I'm currently using a 400w HPS in a cooltube hortizontally, and a 400w MH in a super half-assed vertical setup. Every grow is improving w/ this setup. I have just ordered another 1000w hps, and plan on moving the 400w MH to the veg room. Now my question is should i use both bulbs vertically? or should use the 1000w vertically and the 400w horizontally in my new grow room? or should i just use them both in a traditional horizontal aircooled setup? which system would have them most overlapping light? A.Both Horizontal B. Both Vertical C. 1000w Vertical, 400w Horizontal D. 400w Vertical, 1000 Horizontal Whatever system, both will be aircooled in a cooltube just hoping to hear from someone who has tried maybe a vertizontal setup? Thanks! current freebie from attitude, g13 power skunk

both vertical. will overlap spectrums well. would run a light a little higher than the adjacent one. center 1 light on the center of the plants. raise the other 1 higher (~3-6").
can get the plants as close as 3-6" away from bare bulb vert 1k's. should be just as close, or closer w/ cool tubes, etc. lights can be ~12-18" away from each other - no more. the most effective range of a 1k is ~3"-12" away, whether vert or horiz. maybe a couple uvb tubes overhead instead of an hid. should noticeably increase fruit reproductive glands. hope this helps. enjoy your garden! |

i like your idea of 1k vert and a 4 horiz
but im not sure that that would work all that well. likd purpledomgoddes said bothe vertical will help overlap the spectrums so whichever plant is in the center will be massive verttt |

keep in mind when using vert lighting that most of your light is coming from the side of the bulb, thats why vert works so well in a stadium, for normal over top of plant grows horiz. with a really good reflector will work best, unless you run the 1000 horiz on top and hang 400's around sides

put them in the same cooltube vent, but put the 1000 a bit above the canopy and the 400 in it. put a makeshift reflector around the 1000 to save the excess light and add a fan to the bottom. done like dinner.

how far apart should the 2 bulbs be? my plants will be 4-6 ft..just wondering what the ideal placement would be in the cooltubes vertically?
thanks for the replys! |

I'm gonna experiment with my next grow, I grow vertical now with 3 1k bulbs, but I have a 5ft cool tube I want to put them in. I'm looking for a diamond bit so I can drill into the cool tube to run the cords and run all 3 or mabye 4 bulbs in the tube.

2 feet maybe? you should experiment and see what works best. you could perhaps attach a 2nd set of chains to the lower cooltube, that way you could raise and lower each independently.
