Edamame

Has anyone here got any Edamame growing tips?

Will it perform in coco? Is it worth the effort or shall I just continue to get the frozen ones?

aka soybeans. If farmer John can do it, I'm sure you can to. They are reposrted to require high levels of pesticides. The two main GMO's are corn and soy. The reason for messing with their genes is to make them "Round-Up Ready". I don't know how feasable indoor cultivation is. I'd think that it's possible though. However I'd try to get them in the ground. If you can't where you are, try and see if a friend of family member will let you use a bit of their property. If you do grow it, there are a few things that you can do with it. Of course steaming and salting it. I personally love tempeh. Tofu can be usefull. Then some people like soy milk. You can find how to videos on youtube for all of these. The protein in soy is more digestable in the form of tempeh. Plus it is supposed to neutralise the estrogen like hormones normally present in soy. Korean food uses a lot of fermented food products in their cuisine. Doenjang is a fermented soy paste. The making of which also renders a home made soy sauce. The half made product of this is also used for making gochujang. This is a fermented chili paste that is aged in the sun for up to two years. Being a chili addict this sounds devine. So I know a lot of this isn't directly related to growing soy in containers. It does give you a glimpse at other uses for your hypothetical soy crop though.

I'm sure the Farmer's Almanac would have some soybean info if you got to digging. All I know is that it goes great with a little unagi and some uni.

ya they are worth the effort, but do it outside in a garden, to simple to waste electricity on. Try and pick on time or they wont taste as good after u defrost them. Also jap beetle will wreck them so gotta be on that if its a pest around your parts
