welcome to the great outdoors forum
some general ground rules first
this forum is for outdoor activity's and is wide ranging but please keep it in context if we are discussing hunting talk of guns is Ok, normally we don't like gun threads but as tis is an outdoor activity a lot of members enjoy we will allow guns but "In Context" you don't hunt with an AK47 or a colt desert eagle, you get the Idea personally I love Fishing (wild trout & salmon back home in scotland) I also do shooting (mostly Clay, Target and paintball) camping esp if I can combine both of the above, Paragliding, no better rush than running off a mountain and hpoing your canopy inflates, and just generally walking around in the wilderness so feel free to post your story's of your great Outdoor adventures

I was wondering where my topic wandered off to. Good idea for a forum.

This is a Fantastic idea for a sub-forum. Thanks Pink!
As far as guns go, i hunt with old military rifles, sometimes. weather during hunting season in my parts can be just about anything from rain to blizzard and warm to sub zero. given crappy rainy weather, an M-1 is hard to beat for function and reliability. Honestly, I dont get peoples gun fear, its just another toll. what you need to fear is the people, behind it, or behind the wheel, or behind the badge, or... well you get it. |

great idea op ...
most aussies are outdoor folks , well those not bound up in the cities .. as most folks seem to be hearing ,, we are a little less armed with guns as we once were ... its fine theres other way s to get the job done .. just contemplating purchasing a compound bow , they are a very efficient weapon , nice and silent also ... a few large pesky monitor lizards that eat chicken eggs might be a nice start for it .. hehe .. i dont mind not having a gun , but as other outdoor folks that live in the "wood/jungle/bush" what ever u want to call it , u need some sort of weapon from time to time ... |

Great idea. This forum should prove very popular, as I believe a good percentage of us are great fans of the outdoors.
Being a gun aficionado/collector I take any chance I can to show off my guns. I would however caution anyone posting pics of guns to make sure the serial number is not visible in your pics. I'm sure that's something your friendly neighborhood LEO would be interested in; serial numbers can be checked against federally mandated invoice logbooks (in the U.S.). Once again, great idea on the forum.

I was an avid outdoors man. Thanks OP for the forum. A couple of my guns are now assult, funny thing is, when I purchased and used them that name hadn't been created yet. They were just hunting rifles. My late father and I had a pro guide service for waterfowl in the very Northern Ca. area for 10 years when I was attending high school. At that time I started a game bird taxidermy service that continued for 20 some years. I evolved into a bow hunter in the early 80s and really enjoyed the challenge of getting close enough to game to take with a bow. I have the Silver Broadhead award for the largest Pronghorn Antelope taken with a bow in the US for one year. I guide antelope rifle and bow hunters as well as mule deer in CA and Nevada still when my disabilities allow...not often though..more like just pointing to a map and saying "Go Here"...LOL..! I do not hunt with firearms or a bow anymore but miss it. Just my camera friends. My fishing adventures are to numorous and would take up another whole page so I think you've heard enough about me for now..love the outdoors....let's hear more from our ICers who have these common interests..DD

good to see some of the outdorrs men, and hopefully more too. apart from growing outdoors, im also an avid fisherman. i fish muskelluge and bass mainly up here in ontario canada, but love the walley and other species as well. not a huge hunter, but have fired a gun or too in my time. I also love camping and just being outside.

Nothing like going out in the woods camping around a fire, and getting high and drunk. Makes me feel good, even though im not a drinker, but on certain occasions it is a must.
Have some ladies isnt bad as long as they arent they real girly ones, but most of the time it is better to kick it w/ the boys. Having some shrooms would be awesome too, as i have never got to trip while camping.
