C99 x Cali O Smell

Hi Wallyduck, and everyone else! I was gifted some of your C99 x California Orange Bud seeds from a friend and I have 3 germinating right now.

I was wondering what I should expect when I start flowering these as far as aroma, and if I will need to take any preventative measures.

Last summer, when I was flowering multiple strains, most of them were fine. I could only smell them in my closet. I harvested them with ease, as they were 8 week indica dominant strains. They mainly smelled if I squeezed a bud or only certain times of the day, but like I said, only upclose.

But I had a clone that I received from a friend that he grew from bagseed. It started to flower, but he didn't have the equipment or at the time the knowledge to do anything with it. It was grown under a regular lightbulb.

Anyway, I took a clone, and it took forever to root, but once it did, I vegetated it for about a month, to train it how I wanted it, by topping it so I had 4 main colas, and then tying them down. Anyway, this plant smelled so skunky and dank. During it's final weeks, as soon as you would walk into my room, you'd smell this amazing dank skunky smell. I didn't like that fact, but I figured it would be done soon enough, so oh well. I figured you could only smell it in my room, and only at certain times, like in the morning, when the lights would come on.

Anyway, the other day my friend and I were discussing that plant, and he informed me with something that was a shock to me. He told me that this one time when he was sleeping on my couch in the living room, when he awoke, he could smell it very strong.

So the moral to the story is, obviously there are plants that are way more odorous than others. Is C99xCalifornia Orange Bud one of those strains that will fill the entire house with it's smell? Or will it's smell be mild unless I rub up against the plant, etc...?

hey guys ,, fathertimes grow was from a different mother plant to the more recent one .. the more recent one was more on the indica side , and likely less smelly ,, u can stilll probably find some pungent ones though its more mild the smell on that variety ..

Lol yes i remember that time. Too bad you couldn't get any of those to sprout, I had similar problems, i planted 3-4, i think i planted one first and it didn't even sprout but germed, and the other ones sprouted but then died within a couple of days, this was about 8 months or so ago and I just thought it was damping off and it could of been, but all 3 of yours didn't even sprout either and the other beans i gave you did and so did the Paul beans.
Is this a common occurence in this cross wally?
Or is it just coincidence, and growers mistake.

not quite sure dkmonk ,, the later batch was fine ,, just the earlier batch was stored at a friends place who lived in a very very damp area , seeds werent stored as good as they should have been and hence the viability problem ..
i kept that mother clone several years before loosing her to an unfortunate problem thats hard to explain given security issues ...

Well either way I'm happy w/ the buy and if horror and I can't get the last 2-3 to germ then I will simply just buy a some more or a different c99 cross, it could be improper storage on my part. I think it was only $35 when I bought them, which is a heck of a deal. I hope we can get them to go, because I wanted to put at least one outside to grow to its full potential.

One of my theories was, that i should of used a soil mix, because i used peat/perlite mix and horror biz used peat puck, so maybe they would just do better in a soil mix.
