I would think this method could promote root rot problems too. Having stagnant water sitting down there while the root system develops won't help anything.... Cannabis roots need oxygen in order to live.

I would think you could improve your yields and overall plant health by drilling multiple drain holes in the corners and bottom of the bucket. This would increase root surface area because roots could now grow down into the last 2 inches of the bucket. If you are watering correctly this shouldn't be a problem...

Maybe I'm just an old dog.... I can see how there could be the possibility of a small reservoir at the bottom being beneficial to a large mature plant as a source of water. Again, the bottom roots may be prone to root rot diseases in this type of environment though... I transplanted a mature plant from a 3 gal to a 5 gal container and saw the bottom 2-3 inches of roots were completely dead. They smelled because they were beginning to decay. Not a healthy environment. The grower had been leaving the plants each in a plastic tub and watered until it came out the bottom every time, and the water was just left in there to evaporate. This plant was in the process of foliar decline.

Your powerhouse looks happy though and has a phattt stem! After harvest could you please inspect and photograph your root system for any disease or deformity? I'm curious about his method.

i think the key is to water appropriatly, if your just sluggin water down there everyday, your definitly going to get rot. however if you water correctly, and the plant uses up all the water and has a chance to dry out inbetween, i think it will be fine. its about not overwatering. but i will take pics of the roots when done and we will both find out. thank you for your thoughts on the matter.

ps buckets are round and dont have corners. lol

Very true, I didn't see how they were watered, and they need to kind of dry out. It was a new grower, and I would assume he was glugging water in there every day, judging from how he handled other parts of the cultivation....

Every bucket has an infinite number of corners....

Think of the edge of the bottom I guess... yeah that....

Give a gentle tug on the stem and see if the root mass wants to break free of the bucket... You will be able to feel how rooted in it is, gentle though... With so much perlite and vermiculite the rootball may tend to want to crumble so have things ready so its quick and painless... Whats the size of yer new bucket, and what was it in before?

the new bucket is a bit bigger. i more wanna use it cause its sturdier, and shes getting taller so i wanna bury some of the stem so she has some support.and its black and lets no light in... the one its in now is blue, and only has 1 coat of spray paint. might try and flop her over tonight.. see how it goes. thanks for the tips.

i think im going to have one bucket ready and just kinda plop her out of one and into the other.
