Sole Surviving Powerhouse in Hempy Bucket

started 4 of these little buggers, and due to my own negligence, this is the only surviving one. fortunately, shes (hopefully) a beautiful plant.

this is my first try with hempy buckets so i hope it goes well. the mix is 75% perlite, and 25% vermiculite, in 2 gal bucket. Hand watered with cns-17 1 part ferts.

transplanted last night from 16oz solo cup with promix, to the hempy bucket. will get 2 weeks vegg, or more, and then flowered under 400w hps.

looking at the pics, she looks slightly underfed, but im going to start watering every few days per hempy bucket instructions, and feed every time, so im sure it will catch up fast. i dont wanna push it yet though till the tap root hits the rez.

Default Hempy Bucket Method
The biggest benefit of this method is.......it's free!

To make a hempy bucket is simple, all you need to do is this:

Get a bucket.

The size of the bucket can vary from 1gal(4lt) to 5gal(20lt).

The preferred size is a 2.5gl bucket, which can yeild up to 14oz depending on the strain and Pheno.

Drill a drain hole in the side of the bucket about 2 inches from the bottom.

The drain hole should be 7/16".

The grow medium is perlite/vermiculite.

3 parts perlite to 1 part vermiculite.

You can use volcanic rocks but the perlite/vermiculite is the preferred method.

Once you have your seedling sprouted fill the bucket with plain water every day until the tap root has reached the standing water that always remains in the bottom of the bucket. this will take about 10-14 days after the bean sprouts, in a 2.5 gl bucket.

Once you see three sets of leaves, water with 1/2 strength nutrient solution. This will be about 14 days after you bean has sprouted.

Completely fill the Hempy Bucket with plain water, every two days.

Use water that has been open overnight to allow the chlorine to escape, unless you can afford to buy filtered or distilled water.. Do not adjust the plain water for ph.

Put 2gls of water in a 2.5gl bucket, and let stand overnight. Add the nutrient solution to this water bucket and then adjust the ph to 6.0 For best results use an accurate ph meter and follow the nutes mfg reccomended amounts very carefully. Use precise measuring devices to make your nute solution.

Fill the Hempy Bucket with 2 gls of nutes you mixed, once a week, unless the plant shows sign of needing more.

Feeding twice a week with 1/2 strenght nutes is a better idea than feeding full strenght nute once a week.

The strenght of your nutes depends on several factors such as how much light you have, humidity, CO2, strain your growing.

One drawback is having to hand water every 2 days, of course you could get an irrigation system set up for your buckets.

The biggest drawback to me, is the runoff.

Got a spare bathroom, grow your Hempy Bucket in the bathtub.

Basements sometimes have drains.

Or you could get a bucket for your bucket and dump that in your bathtub every other day.

what does, watering with premade nutes, 1 time every 3 days?

coco seems way harder.

well. this powerhouse really seems to LOVE the hempy bucket... i think i can start feeding her a bit heavier though, she seems just slightly pale. other than that she put a few more nodes on, and i took a few clones. so as soon as i get roots on the clones we are flipping this bad ass plant into flower... i was reading some other powerhouse threads, and they mention the smell of burning plastic.. and sure as shit. thats what this one smells like, even in vegg. strong strong odor. im guessing thats a good thing. really hope shes a she. i think im gonna like her alot.

Pharma Geddon is on a distinguished road
Unless he has changed them recently, which I doubt, those are NOT the instructions hempy gave for his buckets.

You start with a 10 to 12 litre bucket, bigger making no difference but not smaller and there is no transplanting.

The young plants get fed full strength nutes from the day they start in the bucket, pH is 6.2. Once the roots hit the bottom, growth is rapid and they can be fed every 2 or 3 days but feeding every day is also good. Feed until there is visible runoff.

Medium can be perlite, p/v mix 3 to 1, coco or coco perlite mix, I've used Fytocell and it works well. iirc, hempy does not recommend volcanic rock.

Sounds more complicated in print then it actually is, about as brain dead a growing system as it gets.

every search i did about hempy buckets came up with the paragraphs i posted. maybe its not from hempy himself. i could be wrong. i quoted off another site. but its pretty simple method. and the plants seem to be liking it quite a bit. we will see what happens in flower.

thanks for stoppin in!

found the real hempy bucket quote, and its very close to the other one i posted.

The Hempy Bucket

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hempy Bucket
Hi every one i thort id add this system of growing i use and have used from the erly to mid 80s , As most of you that know me will all ready know that im a belive in simplicity and things that work and i only realy state facts that i have experencet from hands on.

I like the hempy bucket becouse of its simplicity and the price of the system (ITS FREE ) to make and has no moveing parts that can fail and once the plant has started its root system you can basicly water and forget it for 2 days or 3 depending on temps and you can grow eny strain from sativa to indica in it .

I basicly got the idear from my first hydro kit i ever got that was a tamato hydro kit and i found it realy easy to understand ,It was basicly an aquponic set up and the guy i had got it from i whent back a few years later telling him about my creation and how i got it from his idear and the look on his face and smile sed it all ,Iv spoken to a few people in the hydro industry about it and they all tell me it wont work it will couse root rot so on well there all rong becouse this method works and they say a picture is worth a 100 wards right lol.

I AM NOT SAYING THIS METHOD IS THE BEST BUT What i am saying is its a option and a easy cheep way to grow hydroponicly and nothing more, I have tryed a lot of methods and have all ways gone back to this.

To make a hempy bucket is simple all you need to do is this

Get your self a bucket eny colour but clear as you will end up with algy forming as the nutes react to the light .

The size of the bucket can very from 1 gal (4lt) to 5gal (20lt) ruffly i personaly like useing a 10 lt bucket and have had up to 19 oz yield cured from a single bucket plant but it depends on the strain and given phino .

Once you have your bucket then get a drill and drill a drain hole in the side of the bucket about 2 inch from the bottom , The drain hole can be around 7/16.

And the medium i use is perlite/vermiculite at around 3 to 4 parts perlite to 1 part vermiculite. You can use volcanic rocks coco or 100% perlite but personaly i found the perlite / vermiculite a lot better in meany ways.

All you need to do now is basicly add the rooted clone or seedling water with nutes and thats it,I would water it daily until the tap root and root system has headed down to the res but once you see a desent growth rate id then start to water every 2 days.

The only thing rong with it is you need to hand water and you get run off from the drain hole thats it and as far as checking your PH well the only time you need to do that is when you mix your nutes i like useing a PH of 6.2 PH .

If you want to ask me questions feel free .

If you want to see the resolts of the hempy Bucket let me know and il tell you were to go to see them.

Like i sed im not stateing this methods is the best just saying its a option and a free one and it works and works well ................hempy
