Can we please raise the new photo file size limit???

It is now 150k or so since the site upgrades.. To my knowledge, there was no file size limit in the past, so long as your image was within the resolution limit.

This new file size limit forces everyone to use a great deal of compression, like a 45-35% quality setting or less in most cases (in Photoshop "Save to web".)

I'm aware some people cannot tell the difference between a JPEG compressed to 150k and the original photo, but for those who compress images regularly or do a lot of photography, the loss of detail can be quite noticeable, and the artifacts in an overly compressed image tend to jump right out.

Could this can be changed to a more reasonable size? Even 250-300k would give a lot more breathing room to maintain detail and still use a fair amount of compression.

Thanks!

150 is more than enough. Hell, cut it in half. Maybe then people will stop posting images the size of China.

LOL go home with your dial-up...

I made it clear what quality settings are necessary to hit the limit.. Guess you're just one of those people who can't tell the difference.

For those of us who can, it matters.

The vast majority of images you yourself have uploaded are over 100k, at the old resolution limit no less, so I don't know what you're talking about with this "cut it in half" business - you sound like a fool.

What a perfect storm of stupidity and hubris.

You didn't just get it ALL wrong. You got it all EXACTLY wrong. Show me my dial up modem; I haven't seen one for years. My average file size since Dec of last year is 65K (not counting Eyeclops trich shots which lowers it even more) My standards are far superior to yours, I simply have better manners and lack your delusions of entitlement. Quality doesn't matter to you in the least or you'd be buying your own bandwidth. This is about you whining for things you don't deserve.

150K is more than enough.

Can you re size photos on IC, i uploaded some photos that are huge. I thought when uploading them they were automatically re sized to a set maximum. I really don't want to post pics that are so huge you have to scroll left and right to see the whole thing. So do i have to re size before uploading now? Thanks
